KA sale Rumour.
CX/KA is Air China's southern tent pole. The whole kit and caboose will probably be folded into the Air China Group by then.
As to Hainan, it is a deck of cards and China Southern will end up picking up the charred remains.

All CX!
SMOC, there is no such thing as KA office staff, they are all CX employees. No one in the boat house can make any real decisions anyway, it all comes from Kitty City.

If you don't think this was all hammered out YEARS ago, you should get help.
Swire has plans that stretch decades out for each franchise.. not days (thats just our Swire Princes trying to stretch things out ~ not focusing on actual daily issues..Thats their job.. minimize loss, wait for transition. Play pretend.
They sold off CX and KA years ago, I've had drinks many times with someone involved in the merger. However, like all things Chinese/Swire.. its the long play. When it happens, it will be instant.

I've posted this before but in the 1980s when Director/Staff drinks session were normal, Sir Adrian Swire mused that Swires would probably be out of aviation by 2025.
That is forward planning, around a 28 year lead time.

...and the mainlanders are desperate for pilots anyway. Why is it lately that every time I log on to PPrUNE there's an ad for supposed 'excellent' packages in China and on bases for expat pilots?

Good point Dart.
Is the pendulum finally going to swing back in favor of pilots?
Sooner or later, surely it must. Or maybe airlines will just keep sticking hundred hour wonders into the right seat and hope for the best...

You're right
Cpn Dart you're right, ads everywhere for pilots to fly in China, but CX doesn't seem to have a problem getting guys to join. And no one leaves.
"Is the pendulum finally going to swing back in favor of pilots?" - not for CX guys, there's no pressure on management to give anything up.
Or not until the 100 hour wonders break 5000 and then take a job in China...and that's years away.

Airlines in China have big bank rolls for growth and are not interested in 100hr pilots.
CX is full of 100hr pilots because accountants are running the show. Ask the training dept how our 100hr pilots are doing trying to move to the right seat. Trainers are burning out flying extentions to the extension to the long plan lufus. Even on the line, there are way more 'active interventions' required as compared to days gone by when experience was a prerequisite to joining, not gained in cruise.
Those same accountants are more interested in their own bonuses than sitting down to talk about RP's, CoS, or pay for pilots.
