CX Loads HKG-DXB
Hi guys, I am trying to get from HKG to DXB on Sept 13/14. I reference the loads obtained on the CX booking website and it shows many seats open, is this accurate? My airline is full and I'm making backup plans. Thanks

13 Sept-
CX 745 = 10 biz, 0 eco
CX 731 = 7 biz, 0 eco
14 Sept-
CX 745 = 3 biz, 0 eco
CX 731 = 0 biz, 0 eco
Seeing as CX doesn't upgrade staff , I would say you have very little chance of getting on any of these flights.. Sorry.

Not that I'm trying to defend CX at all but CX will and do upgrade as required. All the check in staff need to do is follow the policy correctly, something they don't always do.

I am a little ashamed every time I get upgraded on more staff-friendly airlines (BA, AF, KL) as I know I will never be able to reciprocate for them as long as I fly for CX... another lost opportunity.

Some of you don't know how our staff travel system works ( or should work).
Basic principle; a non- payload limited flight should not ( barring last minute no-shows) depart with empty seats.
So if you hold staff EY (not J or F) ticket you maybe upgraded at the last minute but more likely checkin staff will upgrade a full fare Pax - typically MPO members in status order so as to free up EY seats for EY staff/ interline pax

I'll say it again:--
"If" Airports staff follow company policy they will upgrade and the Aircraft should not depart with empty seats.
Staff travelers need to be a little pro active in this regard, monitor what's going in and if need be report any violations to BN. He does follow up.

Curtain----do I need to spell it out for you?
Ok I will:---
1/ check the CFP before to see if it is weight restricted
2/ check the loads in each class
3/ if its marginal then contact the Captain/FO/SO ( whoever you feel comfortable calling or whoever you know ) and ask them to keep close contact with the HAS dispatcher at the Aircraft. I've done this for sub loader friends many times as Captain and you'd be surprised what a little "monitoring" can achieve at the time. Even just to make sure they release Crew Seats and Jump seats.
This should give you enough ammunition to achieve the results.
If you still get offloaded then call the crew later to see what the actual loadings were on their flight. If empty seats then report to BN.
There will be times when even these proactive measures won't help, **** happens unfortunately and even staff playing by the rules at check in can be snowed under with changes and pressure.
