Pay Rise - The Benchmark Is Set.
So the dockers have won a 9.8% pay rise. Good on them. Almost twice the initial offer of 5% from their employers.
Personally, I think that is an appropriate percentage for our next pay rise on our basic pay. And no, not at the expense of any other random rumored trade off(92 hours, bases, housing etc). And company wide thanks CX - none of this splitting groups again.
Oh - and that pay rise? Effective from now thanks CX.......... No more delaying tactics. Any down track deal backdated to whenever the current deal expires.

The level of disconnect shown by some of our -supposed- pilots genuinly worries me.
We fly for Cathay Pacific Airways. We are 3 month contract pilots. We came here for cash, and we leave for cash. That's the gig; that's your COS.
There is nothing better going for the vast majority of us, , and they already know that.
If you want a payrise, quit and go get yourself one, but don't throw around words such as deserve, fair, demand and benchmark. That's not in their vocabulary, and frankly it dissapeared from ours when we signed the contract.
When enough leave our wages will go up. But don't hold your breath; there's entire nations of pilots willing to do our job for less. A lot less. All we need to do is train them at a replenishing rate, which despite the sheer stupidity of it we continue to do.
Talk with your feet. Didn't think so.

You're dreaming.....
Like old mate says above, only people leaving will give us a decent pay raise.

I agree with Will. Now if all the whingers would please leave so the rest of us can get a pay rise that would be great. You never liked it here at CX and never will so do the rest of us a favor. Thanks.

Really??
Are you for real Yeager?
Just housing? What about HKG tax rates? Who else pays 15.5% into a PF? Who else hasn't furloughed pilots? The last guys furloughed, and missed they are, were the FE's when we got rid of the old Tristars and Jumbos nearly 20 years ago. Aren't you trapped by seniority?
Why are you still here if it's such a sh!t hole to be working in. And don't tell me about HKG pollution 'cos it's your choice to stay living in it.
Tell us honestly, why are you still here?
You're not fooling us: just yourself.
Take out the hundred or so whingers on PPrune and that leave about 2,500 who don't whinge and many of them (I know 'cos I fly with them) are not so pi55ed off that they don't even bother to read PPrune.

Two things:
1.) We don't need people to leave to get raises. In 2010 the company made a ton of money and market forces...ie pissed off employees who were willing to work to rule were effective in getting the company to the table.
2.) People ARE leaving. I've personally moved up 22 spots on the list since December. That is 1% of movement in 4 months which is almost unheard of here. Considering our mandatory retirements based on age 65 for all of 2013 is only 11, people ARE leaving, or getting fired. Doesn't matter to me.
Next time you are in the mailroom, have a look around. Lots of red "R"s littering the boxes.
Last time I saw that many "R"s was right before the company arbitrarily gave out raises that WEF 01/2008.

Re: Getting a decent Payrise
Deep Breath -- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAaaaa.....
And Again----- HOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOooo....
But I'm staying because yes it is (one of) the best job(s) around and for the record, personally I'm not "Handcuffed to the housing" I chose to take the extra shedload of cash, does that make no sense? (Apologies to those who don't have it, I wish you did.) Suspect it's primarily 'the based' who use the handcuffed phrase? The grass is always greener guys. Not having the choice, (HKG vs Base) anymore, I'll maintain a chipper demeanour by accepting the Up of the allowance/Tax etc vs the better lifestyle elsewhere, until the glorious day when we are offered basings again ... Deep Breath -- HAHa.....etc

Jetstar Hong Kong COS/ Package?
In relation to the topic, does anybody know what the recruitment department of Jetstar HK are offering for TC/Capt/FO for this start up venture? A reliable source says 3000 applicants! But yet to hear of any figures or conditions. The salary being offered is not being advertised, as recruitment are speaking (not via email) prior to interview. Hard to believe there are 3000 applicants with access to an employment visa via spouse, etc, or with resident status. Perhaps they are finding a way around this.
