Liam the tool Squeezer
Ignore Liam the tool, his mother must have scrubbed his foreskin too vigorously as a child. I always keep J1 and J2 open for either the other crews partner should they decide at the last minute or any other flight crew that want to get some R&R and escape this company for a few well earnt days away. CX HKG check-in staff always get last sniff and always will until they start treating us like their colleagues on the same side and not their enemies!!

hmm, gotta agree on the one about ground staff never stopping by to say thank you
perhaps the reason this is so is because they see the J/S as company property and the Capt's decision as nothing more than process
you know, kinda like when check-in staff decide to take a calculated risk and check you in before counter close out time so you won't have to rush through CIQ, or to exercise countless other little discretions they may have in the course of their duty without an inkling from you or a thank you too.........
are'nt we all just doing our jobs...........nah, can't be that simple

i second that..
I dread going to staff counter to check-in.
Just the sight of the faces puts me off..
On the flip side LAX,SFO,CDG, Ams,Lon,Aus really friendly and approachable.

I third that.
In all my years, I've only had 1 friendly, helpful guy at HK staff check-in.
Yet, I've had positive experiences at numerous outports including, but not limited to, CDG, BNE, YVR, SFO, PER, SIN.

On a related matter, who finds the jump seat allocation page in Crew Direct almost useless? It takes multiple attempts to allocate jump seat priorities and to get the 'action required' tag to change to 'no'.
Because of this it takes bloody forever to deal with all the new friends I make on the eighteenth of every month.

Tech crew are just as guilty as the rest. Let's not get "holier than thou" Blade.
I have had many instances lately of J1 and J2 cockpit crew being allocated seats, happily sitting back in business class enjoying their champagne, without so much as a quick left turn on the way in (Airbus) to say "Thanks, but was given a seat".
Just saying.

Anotherbusdriver,I have not mentioned about guys gals saying thanks and very much agree we are sometimes as bad as the ones whom we moan about..Although I have still never had a ground staff say thank you ever, and cabin crew 50/50 ,so whilst we sometimes have ignorant pilots we are not the worst..
So before you start throwing stones and getting "Holier than thou"you may wish to read my posts....

Random checking jumpseats on the 3 days before Xmas for LHR shows 7 out of 10 Captains have not allocated jumpseats for 33 colleagues requesting. For 23 combined flights out of YVR MEL SFO only 12 have allocated jumpseats thus far.
So as a group you could not say we look after our own that well.
