Xmas Grinch

OK Guys with xmas travel time approaching a plea from a sometimes commuter and all the other pilots engineers and their families..

Lets save J1/J2 for them..

I know that a brand new checkin girl many have requested my jumpseats 1 min before you but that doesn't change the unwritten rule.
Pilots engineers and families first..

load others up from J3 onwards ..I don't see how this is a lose lose but you guys and you know who you are who just release without talking to your crew to see if they may need it first ,or just leaving J1/2 open for guys just in case ,really bewilder me..

lets be considerate to each other ..:D

Are we allowed to write c.ock on pprune? Shame, because that's the only response your post deserves.

I hope you have the minerals to express your views to the Captain on your next trip. Do let us know how the conversation ends. I am guessing with the word c.ock.

blade 18th Nov 2012 03:44

Are you really a pilot or cabin crew liam..Because where I come from we help each other first.Im sorry you don't agree

And why would I discuss how I give out my jumpseats with myself on my next flight..

What's a "Grinch"??

iflylow 18th Nov 2012 06:51

Liam,

Seriously WTF is wrong with you? 99% of the skippers I know whole hardly agree with Blade, but it's the 1% like you that screw it all for us. J1/J2 should always be kept open for tech crew end of story.

You wouldn't want someone questioning how you allocate your jumpseats, perhaps you should afford other Captains the same courtesy.

You can all take your unwritten rules and shove them, none of you have a monopoly on Christmas. You can sit on a crewseat. A ground staff employee can't and perhaps the wise Captain knows that and gives the ground staff J1 and J2 and you J3 to ensure the "friendly" staff travel folks do not turn away the Ground Staff. Should it be you are too precious to sit on a Crew Seat, do be sure to inform the Captain when you request the Jumpseat.

Iflylow, if 99% of Captains agreed with Blade, he wouldn't need to be whining on pprune..... The answer's still c.ock by the way.

By the way, any reason you didn't put this request on the AOA Boards?

Jumpseats

......................

blade 18th Nov 2012 09:29

Well liam there would be no point putting this on our AOA forum because liam I would suggest that you would be embarrassed and called out for acting like you are on this forum..

The only way for people like me is to try and speak to you here..

I do have utter curiosity though why you seem so angry against pilots, tech crew and there families..

You are making my point on this forum 10 times better than i ever could so I would invite you to keep being yourself..

To all others like liam please "consider" your crew and work colleagues is all most of us ever ask..

Now take it away liam, you are at least funny in your irrational state:rolleyes:

Forward CofG 18th Nov 2012 12:54

90% of the ground staff and cabin crew are no-shows anyway, or don't bother to come up to the flight deck to say thank you.
Why would they get J1 or J2 anyway, unless there aren't any tech crew or engineers.:ugh:

BusyB 18th Nov 2012 14:55

Why don't you all grow up.

The mere fact that you are discussing this on a Public Forum shows everybody what a load of toss*rs we have working for us (note I don't say WITH us)

blade 18th Nov 2012 15:09

Busy B,I don't believe this topic is remotely out of order here..

Its about as boring as all topics on Pprune are!!!

But an open forum to discuss like adults boring topics is why we all sign up

Jumpseat allocation threads occur on pprune with monotonous regularity and follow a predictable pattern. I dont normally get involved because BusyB is quite correct in that such a debate in public puts us all in a bad light. That said, there was something in your originating post that I (and I suspect any non-pilot) found most objectionable.

I do consider my work colleagues when allocating jumpseats, the difference between you and me appears to be that you consider your work colleagues to be only a select few, where I have a broader and more inclusive view. Like many, I have experienced the "unhelpful" nature of many of our groundstaff, but I am cautious not to tar them all with the same brush. If that makes me "irrational" or "angry" in your eyes, I shall not be losing any sleep.

How ironic that we are discussing this at Xmas, goodwill to all men....well....only tech crew... The rest can get stuffed.....

Absolutely Fabulous 19th Nov 2012 00:58

this is fantastic

flight crew look after flight crew first,
check-in staff look out check-in staff first,
management look out management first,
cabin crew look out cabin crew first,
ramp staff look out ramp staff first,
cargo loaders look out for cargo loaders first........

what a fantastic way to co-exists and shame on the those who are paid the most to think this is they forward :ugh:

well folks, there's only one way to go so enjoy the continuous descent :D

brilliant..........see what happens when you let the kids in before mommy and daddy are ready to let go of them

Frogman1484 19th Nov 2012 04:16

Ab Fab...that is what is currently happening. Do you think the checkin staff is looking after the flight deck or their checking friends!

Is management looking after us or them selves?

Sad but true!:yuk:

nitpicker330 19th Nov 2012 04:58

Yeah wakey wakey abfab

I've lost count of how many times ground staff never
1/ say thanks
2/turn up
3/cancel an unwanted jump seat.

They are the lowest priority I'm afraid.:suspect:

Having said that there is one particular commuter that gets J3 from me every time now because he holds 3 J1's 2 J2's for himself and his wife over a couple if days and NEVER cancels the ones he doesn't want :=:=:=

He is a repeat offender.....

Captain Dart 19th Nov 2012 05:28

...and is he an AOA member?

nitpicker330 19th Nov 2012 06:31

Don't know? I don't have a list of who is anyway. Wouldn't matter if he was I'm still not giving him any better than J3.

Absolutely Fabulous 19th Nov 2012 07:04

yep, so true...........

despite the moral high ground and "standards" we tend to hold ourselves to I guess we are no better than any of the others :ok:

as I said, enjoy the ride down :D

blade 19th Nov 2012 12:08

liam, you read into this what you want..As stated pilots, engineers, families ..how is this only tech crew..

Any when did I say I don't give my guaranteed seats to ground staff ,cabin crew..its all about priorities..

And you may yell out silly things like your precious bottom and crew seats but I just today had a cockpit crew member on my jumpseat who thanked me no end as seniority today would not have given him a cabin crew seat on the plane..and he would be stuck in!!!

So allocating your jumps to ground staff aint the smartest thing to do in this case is it..

So I will continue to help my fellow pilots and crew members on my flights first..and their families

As for discussing this topic on this forum ,have you seen the topics on this forum, this is tame and mundane ..

the only bad light here liam is how much you seem to hate pilots, engineers and their families or at least prioritize them under the ground staff, checkin girl in paris whom you have never met.Because this is all i mentioned..

So you can stick to your ground staff first mentality ..

however I won't be ,and next time you request a jumpseat why don't you send the Captain an email saying please only give to me after all the ground staff..

:ugh:
