Chineseofficials and media outlets say Australia is no longer safe for internationalstudents, reports say.
TheConsular and popular outrage in China has stemmed from an alleged violentSydney train assault that occurred earlier this week on two Chinese students.
Sixpeople, aged between 14 and 18, have been charged with a range of robbery andassault offences after an incident is said to have taken place between Centraland Rockdale stations at around 12.30am on Monday morning.
AChinese student currently undertaking a Masters degree at the University ofTechnology took to the social media site Weibo claiming he and his friend hadbeen victims of a brutal attack that included racial taunts.
"Theywere calling us Asian dogs and pussies while they were beating us. When myfriend tried to wipe blood from his nose, a teenaged girl stuffed my friend'smouth with her tampon removed from her pants."
Anotherwoman passenger, who was also targeted by the thieves, allegedly told theattackers to "rob them, they are Asian and they have got money." theblog post reportedly read.
Speakingexclusively to 7News, assault victim Alex Huang described his experience,"My nose, the bone here is broken, my cheekbone here is broken, my jaw,the muscle here is so painful I couldn't open my mouth properly,"
"Afterwe give them the money they still punch us."
"Anddon't let us go." Huang told 7News.
Accordingto media reports the Chinese consulate-general in Sydney has since alertedvisiting citizens to avoid unnecessary travel after dark on its website.
Hundredsof millions of Chinese Central Television viewers have been reportedly told ofrising youth crime in Australia that is posing a threat to Chineseinternational students.
"Onceupon a time, Australia had one of the lowest crime rates in the world and wasconsidered one of the safest places to study. However, the safety of overseasstudents studying here is under threat from escalating youth crime," CCTVis said to have reported.
Thereport relayed information about Sydney’s recent spate of shootings of whichsome teens have been arrested.
“Oneof the headline comments has been that Sydney is a very unsafe place to be, forChinese nationals." Joel Wing-Lun from the Australia-China Youth Councilsays.
Itis understood that a rapidly growing petition is circulating within the studentcommunity, and there is consideration to rally.
Speaking to 7News of the alleged train assault,Arfa Noor from the Council for International Students says, "It is goingto impact the image that we have as an international education sector,destination for international students."

but of course the truth is that there is an element of violence and racism present everywhere. Your thread would be better to highlight this global fact, rather than make a comparison between nations - which feeds the flames of racism - as in "my country is better than your country......."

Australian Society polluted with scum.
Ocean Person, if you think Australia is the only place in the world polluted with scum you either have your head up your own orifice or you are just plain ignorant of the fact that the whole world has a measure of "scum".
As a 70 plus year old I think I can comment as well as most on how our society has changed. Blame the "do-gooders" and the "bleeding hearts" whom do not believe in any form of discipline, believe in supporting everyone regardless of whether or not they ever try or intend to support themselves and decry as racists those wishing to prevent illegal entry to our country.

Compound that with a totally inept judicial system worldwide, possibly excluding the USA, who hand out penalties that amount to a slap on the wrist for murder, repeat violent offenders, pedophiles and the other scum of the earth who should be put down. Are instead walking free in society because some bleeding heart liberal thinks that they can save the world. Can't be done ! If you think Australia is bad have a good look at the UK and Europe, it's twice as bad there

A good deal of street violence in Oz is perpetrated by immigrants, others by Australians who are just sick of being treated like 3rd class citizens in their own country whilst at the same time being labelled racists and of course their is an element of local scum as in any country.
And yes, as with many other countries, I would not use public transport after midnight in Oz unless I was desperate, yes it's sad, yes it's annoying and you can blame all those left wing tree hugging f'wits that say criminals have rights too.

I think what makes this assault differ from the many all over the world, is the "compassionate" gesture from one of the girl attackers who yanked out her tampon to staunch the bleeding mouth of one Chinese victim!
