It might seem funny to some especially involving it that this incident involved an 83 year old man. But, who is to say that said pax was not an ex-Kung Fu Master or part of some other planned distraction in a hijacking attempt?
Of particular note, all of the Cabin Crew ran towards the front of the aircraft to confront an unknown emergency situation in response to an emergency signal from the Purser. Such an act of bravery is to be highly commended.
You folks who travel on Cathay Pacific don't know how fortunate you are to be in the hands of highly trained and now proven courageous crew.
Don't even think about messing with Cathay Pacific...

Shoulda wailed on the old bugger after what he did to the FA's hairstyle.
Seriously though, hope someone whipped him before they landed.

FR8R has raised a very valid point...
There will be no living with the old boy, at the retirement village after this little fiasco.
Clearly he needed to be taken down a notch, otherwise he'll be walking 'round all 'Ali like', showing off to the old girls and giving crap to the other old buggers and staff.
Should have nipped that one in the bud early on...

Spoke to the skipper. The guy's stick was a big heavy one, he bopped the crew on the head, and tried to bash his way into the cockpit, hence the "**** "... you'll all be pleased to know that the AFP report states no charges have been laid yet.
Happy???
Happy???

Will the CX Emergency / Security code word be changed now that the whole world has been told it?? I assume so...
Well done to the cabin crew. Better result than the emergency evac with pax sliding down the raft as if they're just back from the Boxing Day Sales.... Rumour has it that the pax taken to hospital for injuries suffered in that one came from pax throwing their bags & duty free, etc from the door to the tarmac.

crwjerk, you have to be kidding, CX dropped the charges?
I would say that this is the point where the skipper should speak up for his crew. In what world are we living in? People can do whatever they want on aircrafts and then get an apology from the company that their crew didn't behave in the correct way?
I hope you are wrong, crwjerk.

If the injured person doesn't file charges then it is very difficult to proceed legally against someone that is having their mental state assessed by the authorities.
He has been banned from all CX and KA.

NO CHarges laid... Dont worry... knowing CX.. he probably get a free seat in business, if returned... Like what happened to the woman wailing, throwing herself on the floor, banging on an airport counter and trying to barge through a closed boarding gate at the Hong Kong International Airport on Feb. 4 after missing a flight to San Francisco.
"They have no compassion. The plane hasn't even left, and they've shut the gate. They're crazy! They're crazy!" the woman shouted.
It wasn't clear why the woman was so upset about missing the flight, and she could not be identified or contacted. Cathay spokeswoman Carolyn Leung declined comment.
Cathay said it had apologized to the woman "for the inconvenience and embarrassment she may have suffered as a result" and offered to upgrade her seats on her next trip and reimburse her for frequent flyer miles she used for upgrades on recent journeys.

What can you do with an 83 year old who tried to disembark in mid flight and later attacked cabin crew with his walking stick? He obviously suffers from a mental condition that will be handled by the appropriate authoroties. I don't think there is any danger in Cathay or any other airline encountering this passanger again.
