AP

Once again, I feel suitably chastised. In an effort to build bridges and avoid the inevitable thread drift, I shall refrain from discussing point number one.

Regarding your post in reply to Mr Snoop, of course you have the right to declare your indignation at his tone. However, by doing so as you did in your opening statement rather made you seem as though you were stooping to his level, the comment being not only unnecessary but also detracting from the points you made subsequently. In my humble opinion, you played the man rather than the ball. For what it's worth, I think he made a fair point, albeit with unnecessary use of profanity. I could use an analogy to describe my point but that would be in contravention of my declaration above.

You go on to say:

I wasn't interested in provoking debate.
and;

Of course, that usually reflects an individual who has a weak argument to make concerning the point being discussed.
As you yourself state, you were not discussing a point, instead you were simply drifting off with the others on a thread that started with someone asking for help regarding shelter. The fact that Mr Snoop turned out to be a lone voice in questioning those who were berating HKN and the fact that he too was then berated speaks volumes, in my humble opinion.

Regarding your PS, I wasn't throwing down a gauntlet or challenging you in any way, I was simply stating my opinion.

Finally, when someone finishes a post with , it usually means they are being humorous.

1). To describe someone as 'vulgar' and 'cretin' is in fact in accordance with Christian principles. It is acceptable to truthfully describe something for what it is. The language and tone was both 'vulgar' and established the person as 'cretinous'. Christians do not have to 'sugarcoat' things. We are called to bring the harsh light of truth and clarity to the worlds behaviour and nature. When the Lord returns, believe me, he will not be 'sugarcoating' his judgement of the world. Christians are perfectly justified in expressing 'righteous anger' when it is appropriate and blatantly provoked. You of course are welcome to disagree.[I]

Second that!

I agree, maybe STP needs to get a life and stop looking for attention on PPrune.

(Bring on the hell-fire STP)

How often are pilots really in their apartments anyway?

I'm a wannabee, not a real pilot but my next door neighbor is a HK based captain. He is home probably 1/10th of the time.

How often do pilots (without HK based families) stay in their apartments anyway? Do you guys ever rent out your apartments while you are away?

Part of the reason for rooming was to meet new people and begin a bit of a network, however after all that has gone on in this thread, I'm thinking it's probably a network I want to avoid.

Thanks for opening my eyes.

I think I'll go it alone.

Fly safe,
All the best,
HKN

Does'nt sound like the worst thing at CX is the C-scale, its the knob-jockies that work there! (although I'm sure these are the minority)

I AM in hkg, living in a nice 3000'sqf low rise garden flat, paid for by CX. And no, I'm not looking for an icadet housemate. Enjoy the commune living.
How is he supposed to know where you live, you busted out the classic "I could tell you but then I'd have to....." in your profile. Dude the 80's called, it wants its crap, over-used, funny 15 years ago but now you just sound like a tool, one liners back. If you cant help the guy then dont post anything (especially if you dont know the blokes circumstance) or if you cant resist then post something constructive like Boofta did.

The world is watching, when you finally ground flights for
lack of S/O's you can maybe reconsider your stupidity.
There is more to managing than penny pinching!
Sorry I don't have a spare room.
Gets the point across without being rude to anyone and is about the only one who answers the blokes question.

and for god sake use the metric system!

umm, good luck with that Ambition/desire.
The Hong Kong real estate system is firmly trapped in the imperial measurements for stating a property size

HKN, from the quality of quite a number of the posts here you will get a pretty good idea of the kind of expats in HKG......and they are the creme de la creme or so they claim. So you are certainly the wiser now that your eyes are opened now.

Oh NO gerago, trust me they ARE the cream, they don't just chose any old Tom, Dick(head) or Harry to live in one of the most expensive, over crowded cities in the world whilst choking themselves and their families to death, no, not just anyone ......................................
