It also says "Staff will also receive a 2010 profit share greater than five weeks‟ salary. "
5 weeks plus HKD $6000 paid in March salary

As usual it is in the small print. We are getting 7 weeks, but the first two are capped at half a month or 6000 whichever is lower!
It is good for our more lower paid colleagues. But I just wish they would all cut the spin and say a limit of $6000 for the first two weeks. Surely nobody at Cathay receives less than $12,000 a month and if they do then we should be ashamed.
It is just like the Government, and only in Hong Kong, "we are giving you a 75% tax rebate capped at $6000". Smoke and mirrors, makes it sound good.

Iceman, [QUOTE]Surely nobody at Cathay receives less than $12,000 a month and if they do then we should be ashamed./QUOTE]
If you are that ignorant of what the majority of people get paid in Hong Kong then it is you who should be ashamed. We live in a SAR where they only just passed minimum wage legislation (of $29) and that was fought tooth and nail by corporate HK.
How else do you think they make so much money.........it's not because of their incredible management/business skills

Spot on, another 3 weeks is a f@*king joke. Perhaps a good year to go sick
Can someone explain to me how we doubled our profit from 2007 when we got 1 month profit share, yet all we get is 5 weeks? WTF?!

Have you had this month's "Caribou" yet?
How many "Caribous" have you had since the annual results came out?
etc.

that was the last profit sharing scheme, then we didn't have one as the previous one expired and nobody remembered we needed a new one, which is what we have today.
Must say am a little disappointed, did think it would be better, but hey it could of been worse.

Actually Iceman, I think you will find that there are a lot of staff at CX that earn less than $12,000 per month. A BC makes around $10,000 per month (guaranteed 70hrs credit at $140/hr). I imagine that office staff are similar.
Anyway, the "sharing" of the profit is a slap in the face. If it was the same for everyone I would be happy, however I bet the likes of TT, JS, HC, RH, et al receive far greater than an additional 3 weeks plus $6000.

Well Nearmiss, I think what you fail to realise is that those you mention are the sole reason we ended up with such a massive profit, it was entirely up to their superior management skills, they are after all Gods walking amongst us meer mortals.
