Just a small point....
I'm well aware, Old Fella, I typed it that way for effect, if you get my drift.
If all the members were Officers, they might get more accomplished.
Still, I wish them success, however I believe the company has them outmaneuvered at every turn.

411A,
To have 8388 posts on PPRune you must have an incredibly empty life.

...he's a sad and pathetic individual, who's bitterness at a hollow career and empty life have left him in the position where his sole pursuit in life is to type inflammatory and ill-informed statements about people working for a foreign airline, of which he really knows very little about. It would be the same as if you or I were vociferously commenting on what was happening internally at Delta. We wouldn't do that, because it would be pointless and ridiculous.

1. If you don't like what he says, or how he says it - or those "smileys" he peppers his posts with...put him on your ignore list. It feels good. Try it.

2. He LIVES to upset people. He's a troll. Time on his hands, perpetual summer (why aren't you outside more, Bob?) a twisted sense of humour, and never tires of the nibbles, the occasional bite, a fight or two - and the release. He's a recreational "fisherman". He's NOT hungry, he just enjoys fishing.

3. All the more reason to move ALL our internal issues off this BB and onto the AOA BBS. It won't upset him - he'll just move on to the next forum where the fish DO bite.

4. Don't let him rattle you. That's exactly what he wants. The anonymity of the internet is what he thrives on. Anonymous, no recourse.

It really is easy enough to find out who he is, but why would you want to? Stop by and beat the crap out of him? Come on. He's harmless. Probably got a good story or two, pays for a round of drinks every now and then too.

Here's an idea - why don't we invite him to HKG to give us all a talk on TriStar operations in Asia in the 80's and 90's. Get him really ratfaced, hear what REALLY happens in the gulf, put a face to the man. We'll probably have a good laugh or two, maybe even learn something. What do you say?

Personally I think we should realise the limitations of the HK legal system and fight the battles we know we can win. That is, outside of Hong Kong. The on-shoring process has now exposed Cathay to both the Australian and Canadian legal systems, where rest assured the public interest is exactly that, not the interests of big business and the taipans. The bypass pay case and the 49ers were well fought by the guys concerned and my hats off to those that had the guts to stand up in court against an organisation like Cathay/Swire. However...a familiar pattern has emerged. We win in a lower court and then during the appeal the case is overturned or damages are reduced significantly. I suggest a better strategy is to fight future battles in Australia and Canada first before we try to win in Hong Kong.

Another strategy would be to start highly publicizing the lack of proper legal protections in HK, and the suspicious actions of the High Court. A concerted public relations campaign in the foreign press would put intolerable pressure on the HK Govt, and maybe in the future they wouldn't be so quick to victimize the AOA the next time we are appealing for an honest application of the law.

And whatever happened to the perjury charges against everybody's favorite swire prince?
Just swept under the carpet in some dodgy backroom deal between the company and the SAR.

But, is it still perjury if you only lie under oath to expressly help and protect big business in Hong Kong?

Perjury now legal in Hong Kong!

It seems perjury is legal in Hong Kong!

The DOJ did not investigate further because there was no evidence that NR or SK were paid or bribed to tell lies in court.

Yes you read this correctly.... Proof of lying in court is not enough to be investigated for perjury in HKG.
You need evidence that someone else made you lie!!!

Lets all remember one thing:

The last time CX NEGOTIATED with the AoA was in 1999 when there was 50 jets parked on the ground at CLK!!!
