Getting a MAC fixed in HK?

My Macbook's fan has decided to quit (probably all the hot air on here ) and I need to get it fixed asap. The computer is out of warranty so I'd rather not take it to a proper Apple service center where I'll get raped price wise. Is there anywhere in Mong Kok, or any of the other computer centres around town that anyone could recommend?

Cheers

I thought they 'just work'.
I would suggest bringing it to the Wanchai Computer Centre 130 Hennessy Road, MTR WanChai Station Exit A4, turn left. There are a few laptop repair shops up on the 2nd floor. Just go door to door and see if you can find anyone you like the look of Or try Golden Computer centre and do likewise.

I dealt with Elite in Central, who were fantastic, but they went out of business as a result of their involvement with the Edison Chen rude photo affair.

Windsor house Causeway Bay there is a small repair shop opposite the Apple DG shop, 11F, may be able to help.

Pop into any hardware store, and get a nice BIG sledge hammer...

Alternatively, a can of petrol from the garage and a box of matches will also do...

Go with JAYTO on this one.

CASE - only authorized Apple Repair Centre in HK. If it's still under warranty then this is the place. Never had a problem with them and lovely girls at counter

CASE are good, but there are more authorized service guys.
here's a link to the others Apple - Authorized Service Provider
Personally used Wah Fung as well as CASE, both are good.

If you don't want to repair with apple authorized resellers then you can try sham shui po 1/F Golden Computer Centre "6688 computer".

I had a similar problem to you and went to CASE service centre, they fixed my fan on my macbookpro, no problems since.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all of the suggestions.

Too all you MAC haters. I'll have had this MAC for 4 years this September and this is my first issue with it. I've never had any other hardware issues, never had a virus or any spyware (I've never even had an antivirus/spyware program installed), never had to reformat the hard drive and my computer still runs like it did the day I bought it. (minus the fan).

I can't say the same for any of my previous Winblowz PC's!

Cheers!

seems bit late to share my experience but hope is useful. Me and my friend got our Macbook and her iPhone fixed at Macwin Technology in Hong Kong which was recommended by many of our common friends. There service was quite good and they fixed mac in very short time as we were there for short period only Reasonable prices and professional.

Thumbs up Apple repair in HKG / Causeway Bay / Windsor House

Ok, it is a while since last activity in this thread, but this might be useful:

The repairshop on the 11th floor of Windsor house is gone (as this floor is closed now), but there are 2 small repairshops on the 10th floor of Windsor House. I don't know it one of these is the former 11th-floor guy, but I tried Smartech Computer Co. in shop 1023. Tel.: 852-25040718 or mobile 9086-4821.
(His neighbour in shop 1024 is doing computer repairs as well.)
Indeed a bathroom-sized small shop stocked with computers and boxes.

Fixed my 13" Macbook Air for half the price Apple was offering.
Analysis and consequential repair within 24 hours!

+1 for Frogman's suggestion.

Great site, esp for something simple like a fan.
