Ocean 747

Anyone knows about the fate of the Ocean 747 which has been disappeared from the T bay days ago?

It is now parked on a gravel area behind the engine run-up bay down at HAECO. You can see it when you are on finals for 07L. Not sure if they are going to scrap it there but they have removed the final engine which had been hanging under the wing.

It would be kind of funny if they do use it as a reef, with a name like "Ocean Airlines".

Ironic that hkg's first environmental considerations came from aviation. Wonderful how they impose tight(er) regulations on aviation (and rightly so) yet neglect to clamp down on those industries that fork out the lycee more readily. (ie coal burning, shipping, trucks without pollution gear, factory backup generators) When will I stop being surprised?

They were going to sink it and make it an artificial reef. Don't know what has happened to that idea.

I hear TT is going to refit it and it can become another BCF... lol (for those N.A.'s - I'm kidding)

Plans are for it to be towed behind Hong Kong Airlines 737-800's.This according to the current management would increase capacity and save fuel.
