If so I wonder why they have increased the pilot cadet program. They are now planning 6 courses next year.

Also, there are 6 Boeings parked in the desert. If these return next year, who is going to fly all those planes?? At the moment, some pilots are already on overpay because there are not sufficient crew to do the flying program.

Just saw this online which may suggest that airplanes might get parked in the future. Not put back into service, I hope that things pick up real soon, but it sounds like it could go either way.

Leading airlines in Europe and Asia reported heavy losses on Thursday amid the deepening crisis engulfing the aviation sector.
Giovanni Bisignani, director-general of the International Air Transport Association, said carriers were being hit by “shocking” revenue falls on international routes of up to 30 per cent at the beginning of the busy June-August travel period, when airlines traditionally made their money.

Air France-KLM, the largest European airline measured by passenger traffic, said it had been hit by an €823m ($1.1bn) downturn in the three months from April to June, as it fell to a pre-tax loss of €612m from a profit of €211m.
All three leading European carriers are deep in loss and have been forced into the capital markets in recent weeks to bolster their shrinking cash resources.
British Airways will on Friday announce an operating loss for the first time in its history for the three months from April to June, traditionally its second strongest quarter of the year. (140m loss today)
Germany’s Lufthansa, which is taking over three smaller struggling European carriers, reported a pre-tax loss for the six months to June of €336m, down from a profit of €478m.
In Asia, Singapore Airlines, the world’s most highly valued airline by market capitalisation, warned it could make a full-year loss for the first time since it was founded in 1972, as it reported its first quarterly deficit since the Sars crisis in 2003.
Singapore Airlines reported a net loss of S$307m ($213m) in the April-June period against a profit of S$359m a year ago.
Revenues fell 30 per cent to S$2.87bn. Fuel hedging losses amounted to S$287m.
Long-haul network airlines are being hit by sharply falling revenues in particular from premium business travellers, previously their biggest source of profits, as well as from the plunge in demand for air cargo.
Mr Bisignani said airlines were also confronting the threats of a renewed rise in the oil price and the potential impact of swine flu.
“Cash flow is threatened by weak demand, exaggerated by fare discounting, and after years of cost reduction, the scope for further cuts is limited.”
Iata said that air cargo demand was 16.5 per cent lower in June than a year ago, while international passenger traffic fell 7.2 per cent year-on-year.

So let me see, whether it is a flight to Japan, Middle East, India, or Australia, still haven't left the gate with less than 95% load factor, adding a wonderful pattern to Jedah, flew 92 hrs last month, 90 hrs this month and yet I am supposed to believe that we are financially suffering?????? Wonder how they are going to hide the real figures this time around????
This looks like an excuse for the company to extend the SLS deadline beyond April 2010 as there is no way they can honor all of the SLS before then. Rather than give back the money the will extend the scheme under the cover of offering more unpaid leave and then give us crap that the scheme was so successful we need to extend the dates.

Not realy Kit, we have already taken a mandatory 8% pay cut when they took 13th month - and If you took SLS, then depending on what rank it could be quite higher.
That is why I did not take SLS and I will not take it if they offer it again. I would rather them negotiate a pay cut, then we could set the terms of when it would be payed back and how.
That is the bitch with SLS - since it is voluntary, there is not much to negotiate.

My next tax return will show I've earned approx $226,000 HKD less ( 15.5% pay cut ) than what I earned 3 years ago for the same position.

Who cares what SIA are doing, last time I checked we were not working for them. The Singas are among the best in the world at bull
, so who knows how they are cooking the books, a bit like CX really 
SIA also have at least one ( I am led to believe ) loss making airline in Tiger, especially Tiger Oz, CX do not, they have a profit making airline in KA.
I am sick to the teeth of the whining coming out of the upper floors, " fuel is too cheap " now they are bitching again " fuel is going up " so which is it that is bad for you brain surgeons ?? too cheap or too expensive ?? " the loads are good but there is no revenue " Do you really expect us to keep believing your bare faced lies ??
Anyone considering taking SLS just remember the share buy back, coincidentally just after the SLS close date, and for KA guys remember the promises, not one of which has come to fruition.
Fors sake, just give me the boot, my 3 months pay, repatriation etc and be done with it....................
