Stuck in Thailand
Hello All
I am currently stuck in Thailand and have been in contact with the company and they have been very understanding of the situation. I have heard that there may have been a rescue flight for CX staff from Utaphao today (Friday) and that there may be one tomorrow too. Does anybody have any more info on this? I was told that if I could get in touch with the BKK CX office that I may be able to get on one of these flights but have been unable to get through on the BKK number. If anybody has any other ideas on how to get out of Thailand let me know as well.

CX is operating flights on Friday and Saturday to help passengers and crew left stranded by the closure of Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok. More flights may be mounted over the weekend if there is still a need.
The first flight left Hong Kong today (28 November) at 10:00 to pick up passengers from Utapao Airport near Pattaya, about a two-hour drive from Bangkok. The flight is being operated by a Boeing 777-300 aircraft.
Priority for the first flight back to Hong Kong which departs Utapao at 14:00 local time, will be given to the airline’s operating crew and staff, and holders of CX tickets from Bangkok to Hong Kong. There will be no additional charge for those holding valid CX tickets.
The flight will also accept non-CX ticketholders if space is available, though they will be required to pay for their ticket. The cost is HK$1,100, THB 5,000 or US$143 for the one-way journey. Due to the limited facilities at Utapao Airport, the payment can be made in cash only.
The second flight will operate on Saturday, 29 November. It leaves Hong Kong at 08:00 and departs Utapao at 12:00. The flight will also be operated by a Boeing 777-300 aircraft.
The hotlines in Thailand for passengers who wish to take the flights to Hong Kong are as follows:

Saturday’s flight will also accept those wishing to fly from Hong Kong to Thailand. Priority will be given to those holding valid CX tickets from Hong Kong to Bangkok, for whom there will be no charge. Those holding valid return tickets from Hong Kong to Bangkok on other airlines will be charged HK$1,100 while those with no ticket at all will need to pay the full fare for the journey. Passengers wanting to take the charter from Hong Kong can contact the special reservations hotline at 2747-6347.

Well I managed to get out on Saturdays rescue flight! Chaos! Hats off to Thailand staff and all involved for doing a good job under insane conditions!

Ninny tourists cannot contemplate moving to a cheaper hotels which we know are numerous in Thailand.

All the main insurance companies have said they will not pick up the tab for accommodation and other costs, leaving many visitors to Thailand with money worries. Among Britons, there was anger that UK officials had done less for their nationals than most other countries. France, Spain, China are chartering aircraft to fly people out, while the Australian embassy is helping stranded tourists in Bangkok travel to the southern island of Phuket, where air traffic has not been disrupted”.

Guava you're right, those people have no idea about personal responsibility. If you really need to be back home, there are many ways to leave Thailand if you pay some money, but the ninnys just sit there and say they have a right to be looked after. Stuff them, but do not publicise their whinges.
The situation has stabilised as you now see, with the court ruling in the PADs (read Kings) favour. The airport should be operating 0001 local on Friday.

Been stuck here for a week now. Can't get back until Sunday.
There was seats avail to K.L. and Penang on variuos operators, once there it should not be difficult to get to H.K?
Dragon had seats avail as from Thursday out of Phuket. There was no backlog from BKK to Phuket.

I stead of playing grammar police why don't you try and study a second language?
English is my 3rd language, so a "was" or "were" does not worry me much. I still got a 6 on my language proficiency test. At least I can communicate with our Cabin Crew and they are not too fazed by my occasional grammar slips.
You would freak if you see how your kids TEXT on their mobiles !!!!
