Logging RQ Time
As I understand it, even as RQ sitting with the S/O for 5 or 6 hours, unless you're PF for the takeoff and landing you can only log that time as P2. If you are PF for both, then you can log all the time you're in the seat as P1 u/s.
And yes, if it's a 12hr (say) flight and you're logging 6 hrs as P2 because you're not in the chair for t/o and landing, then the other 6 hrs does " disappear into the atmosphere" as far as your logbook is concerned.
Standing by to be corrected!

That 7 hours not sitting in a control seat is not logged by FOs or SOs.
To re-emphasise Vol 1:
To re-emphasise Vol 1:
Except for the Commander, time spent outside the control seat for rest purposes cannot be recorded as flight time

Sweat the small stuff
Any interviews you go to are going to know the co. the CAD and what you have actually been doing here.
So not much point getting overly worked up about it !! You will tell future emplyers how long you have been here and if you have logged your time as reasonably as possible as per the P1us etc. then you will be judged as you should. (Probably still be found wanting though!!) Jes kidin
Cheers
Oh and on Y1 dependin on where you are I might not pull the throttles back too far !!

This is all true and good but when putting the numbers in the appropriate columns in the logbook you will notice that is has P1, P2, P2X and Dual for day and night. So I put it in P1 as P1 and P1/US are not seperated.

So how does this affect your yearly maximum, say 1000 hours. If you are P1, thats easy but as P2 or P3 does this imply that you could spend 2000 hours or more in the sky, but only 1000 in the seat. And then only be at the legal max hours for the year.

Good'n
Now there is a good question.
As other countries have more stringent flight time limitations, or different ways to log , this could put you over their restrictions.
