Curious.

If I try to log onto PPRuNe using my HK internet account, for over the last 24 hours it has taken about a minute to come up with the message "Oops, the link seems to be broken" message.

But if I log in through my UK VPN which registers as a UK IP address, there's no problem at all.

And judging by the lack of acticivity on this forum, I would suggest that others are in HK are having the same problem.

Curious.

Yes, same for me Dan.
Haven't been able to logon all weekend but just tried my UK VPN with the same result as you.
No explanation I'm afraid.

Dan - serves you right.

You should have been out sailing yesterday.
Great breeze but a bit nippy

Yes sorry, it seems to have been an attack on the network that caused global access problems. As regions gradually came back online it seemed that Australasia and specific regions were affected for a much longer period. This may or may not have something to do with the source of the attack, but no doubt that is being investigated at an ownership level. As you will appreciate it is significantly beyond the moderation of the site, but I hope this helps explain the basic reasons for the outages.

VPN?

With respect to VPN's, who is having success and with which ones?

Mine was working quite well until they upgraded their UK server and now the 'buffering' is more than frustrating!

Possibly down to the '!!!!e' ISP, here in the IT capital of the world!
