From May 1st, another exciting overnight destination?
DRAGONAIR TO LAUNCH NEW SERVICE TO BANGALORE, INDIA
15 January 2008
Dragonair today announced that it will fly passengers to India for the first time in May when it launches a new service to Bangalore, a major economic hub that in recent years has become the technology capital of India.
The service to Bangalore will commence on May 1, 2008 with daily flights operated by A330-300 aircraft. The launch of the destination will open up new opportunities for people travelling between Hong Kong and the thriving southern region of India.
bla blah etc

Will someone please explain to me how they will crew the flights?
They can't do the current task let alone new services.
20 more KA guys to resign in the next while I'm told.

Used to take a B747F into Bangalore, quite narrow taxi ways, some we couldn't use, some interesting Russian equipment lying around.
The town itself and the hotels we stayed at were pretty good.
Cheer up, it could be worse, Kabul perhaps?

anyway, what's the idea behind KA flying there, as oppoose to CX flying there? previously i thought the distinction between the two airlines and the fact that they can coexist is that they service difference area. CX = internation + some domestics, where as KA service domestics routes.
any idea?

Well KA might be going further afield, but so are the crews. 2 more resignations this week and both senior Captains in the training department.
The pay increase that was recently agreed to has done little to alleviate the losses in crewing. There are also more guys in the interview/application processes in order to get away from HKG and KA/CX.
And with talk that the Boeing fleet will be reduced to 3 aircraft, with excess crews going to the bottom of the CX list, expect more people to walk soon.
Oh yeah, and probably another union fight as KA ignore all the seniority list implications.
Cheers

So it is going to be a nightstop... Any ideas where they are going to put us up? Anyone know any good hotels there? Should we do a "Warnie" and take a tin of beans?
Bet the company is hoping for a free roadside buffet nearby, so they dont have to give us any allowances. So much for the good will...
The weasels have given us a breakfast allowance in PEK, that doesnt cover 1 single item on the room service breakfast menu, not even a bowl of pork intestine and prawn head congee. Just imagine the "new" managers salivating over how cheap they could get food for in Bangalore!
Might give a few of the boys a chance to get over there for interviews on staff travel tickets though!
