Question Do you accept ........ CASH??

Can anyone please enlighten me on the following rumour:

Apparently recently a guy (I believe based in Aus) was called to work on his G day, and said yes, but it would cost them $100,000 into his bank account. (I'm assuming HK$). CC of course said no, to which he replied "That's fine, call me back when you can authorise that".

The rumour follows that the guy was then called again the next morning (another G day), and asked to work, and advised that $100,000 was authorised. He told CC "That was yesterday's price. Today's price is $150,000", to which the controller replied "I'll call you back". He was called back a short time later to be told that $150,000 was authorised.

Has anyone else heard this? I would assume it would cost CX much more than HK$150,000 to have a jet stranded at an outport, with passengers needing to be compensated and/or put in hotels.

Anyone???

Heard the same rumour but the amount was $30,000 HKD. Maybe a bit more realistic if in fact it is true.
Have heard many people say they are being called on G days, i too have had the pleasure of listening to CC plead their case on my answering machine. Can only imagine what contract compliance could be doing to them at the moment...oh thats right we are waiting for something...

Bogus rumour but good story

Crew control are taking high time pilots off flights to prevent payment of overtime only to replace them with G day volunteers or lower time callouts .
so if they are prepared to do that, they sure as hell will not pay $ 30,000 $ 100,00 or what ever figure has been thrown around for one flight. Great bar story, the more beers the greater the amount.

Simple maths gone awry. An A scaler on about 94hrs getting called out for an LA pattern will earn over $150,000 in overtime JUST for that LA flight. A B scaler would earn about $110,000 for the same flight so that is probably where the rumour is coming from.

The pressure at the moment is on manning flights not reducing overtime. A mate of mine said yes to CC for a trip that would have had him at >120hrs - the computer knocked it back due duty hours (190/4weeks less 8 hrs per ULR?)

So its not a case of accepting a cash payment - more a case of earning masses of overtime!
