Typhoon Recovery

We like to thank the many pilots who answered their phones on G days and early before duty.

The pilots that worked on G days saved us from paying other pilots vast amounts of overtime.

The other pilots that answered their phones early enabled us to change the roster in order not to pay some other pilot overtime. If they had signed on with their original sign on, they would have run out of duty. We don’t mind this, as most Captains will use the 3 hours of discretion to extend the duty. Thank you to all those Captains. If the delay is more than 3 hours we will have to pay more overtime.

This will not help my bonus.

When you answer the phone you now become flexible in our operation and we will disrupt another pilot’s roster to finish the operation.

If this did not happen, it would have a huge knock on effect. We would have to pay much more overtime and would make crew controls job very difficult with the possibility of some flight cancellations.

We like to thank all the Check and Trainers who answer their phones at anytime to help out. You are the ones that keep our training program at its speedy pace. If not, we would have to increase your training package to attract more Trainers. Again, this is not good for my bonus.

On G day call outs, we tell the unsuspecting pilot that it is a roster disruption, which he gladly accepts to help out his company.

We like to thank all the pilots who helped out on this Typhoon Recovery.

Here’s to my bonus.

Once again. You get what you deserve. Nothing. Keep answering the phone thinking you are a much needed hero. Once again. You are weak. The Management is my hero.

I always wait for the controllers to leave a message, then I check the flight and see what as-hole just did it.

At least I know who just took me out of overtime or another pilot.

Many pilots here willing to put a knife in your back. Must be the best practices thingy.

Is there any financial incentive in taking a callout on a day off? If not, why does anyone take them?? Fark... go to work for nothing?!? whats the world coming to...

I believe our submissive attitude to "THE MANAGEMENT" on these forums is indicative of our stance towards the company, ie bend over and take it. I know the guy is joking but quite frankly in what sort of warped bloody company are we in when employees find this crap amusing.
Badairsucker I will see you at Cranebank for ther BA interviews, I can't wait to get out of this prison.

Mr Bloggs,
Whilst I usually agree with your posts I cannot quite understand your last on this thread.
If you choose not to answer your phone and you hence 'see' someone else has crewed 'your' flight, why is it their fault?
They most likely have no knowledge you were called first and chose not to answer your phone so therefore if it were overtime would become by rights
theirs would it not?
Please correct me if I am on the wrong universe here, as I said, just cannot understand your thoughts on this....

I get taken off a flight and they call someone on a G day to do it. I lose OT.

Someone else gets taken off a flight and crew control call me on a G day to do it. Then I check and see who did it.

Clear as mud.

Mr B,

Perhaps the bloke that eventually does the flight has been called off reserve! They might have called you first hoping to not have to pay the reserve guy heavy overtime.

It might be a little shortsighted to start a blackbook of names without having the full picture. Poor bugger might just be doing what he has to do ie. go to work when called off reserve.

I'm sure that there are plenty of "helpers" out there but that might not always be the case.
