Junior First Officers JF/O’s and STC’s

Why is a Junior First Officer allowed to sit in the right seat of a Widebody Commercial Jetliner (with just under 400 passengers onboard) when he/she has failed their QL upgrade check to First Officer?

Why has the HKCAD allowed this? What happens if the said JF/O contributed to an incident or an accident? Will this expose CX to some kind if liability in a subsequent inquiry (Japan, Korea, Taiwan where they held pilots in jail or USA)?

Does other jurisdictions in the world allow pilots to maintain an operating seat when they have failed a check? Do they know CX does this? Does the public know this?

Why is it we don’t have the same situations for Captains who fail their commands?

Or is it one of those hoops that you must jump. I suppose it's not to understand, it just the CX way.

Why is a Senior Check and Trainer allowed to maintain his STC status( or Command Status) after receiving four 2’s (minimum standard) on his recent Proficiency Check? Or it just a rumour.

Must be a different standard.

same team.....

Bloggs, JFOs operate to a higher weather minimum to that of F.Os. I would hazzard a guess that is your loop hole. CX can maintain that the said JFO is fine operating to his mins but we found that he may not be suitable at the moment to operate to full F.O mins!
The whole QL thing is a joke and has to go. At the very least the the board should review a candidate like the command assesment. Once he/she is found suitable then the line check Captain should have full authority to pass the candidate at the end of the flight. This would be the only fair way to go about this crap.
It will only change when it doesnt suit the company anymore, just like the RC change of heart!!!
