Giving ka drivers a new set of paperwork with no explanation or instruction, if this is what has indeed happened, is simply reckless.
I wonder if the way they handled the implementation of the cfp from cx at ka is an indication of cockups to come, during this merger of airlines.

Guys
Are we not overreacting a little here!
Agreed the NPO has not handled the intro of the new system well, but all the info that we need is there and less boxes to tick than the previous system.
Perhaps we're just creatures of habit and reluctant to change.

I don't know what others think but when you put the ZFW in the FMC (after taking CFP fuel PLUS 1 ton) it had us OVERBURNING by 1.5 Tons

I never liked RODOS but at least it agreed and was accurate wrt the FMC predictions.

I assume you mean how do you fill out the CFP fuel page?
On the far right you put down FOB and F USED at any given waypoint. At the top of the page record FOB at eng start. Take F USED away from this figure and you end up with another figure close to FOB. Take the lowest of this figure and FOB and put then in the column to the far left(left of est fuel on board...no cfp in front of me so doing this from memory). Take the min fuel figure(printed on CFP) from the number you just entered and write it just to the right. That will give you the excess fuel over fuel required at that waypoint...then just watch the trend.

It is still usable with tankering as you would expect the figure to remain constant if a Cat B CFP was used...but on the 330 you might have an excess of 10-30T instead of the more normal cat A amount of say 2-5T. This is a gross error check for leaks and to ensure you remain above 'the line' for min fuel.

clear as mud?

I think the point is that almost every sector out of Hong Kong is Cat B ie Tankering.
That means that almost 50% of KA flights are tankering sectors.
Your explanation is appreciated but seems "lengthy".
Isn't there an easier way? (like allowing for the tankering as we did with RODOS)
Gliderboy
ps And what is it with the "standing up" to brief?

Truly a worry!! No offence to NC, as the airbus version of the CFP was, in fact, as clear as mud. It is a worry that we are now conducting training seminars to be disseminated to the pilot body here on PPRUNE !!

Don't worry NC CX has only asked a certain ISP for info on posters two maybe three times. So seeing your name on the KA notice board ought to be just fine.

KA Pilots what would be wrong with addressing this through your association (or is it "OUR" association now) and getting a proper channel set up to deal with integration issues. Cause me thinks this'll happen again!!

Glider Boy :

Like the handle ! Is it in reference to previous fuel planning issues ? Are you a Canuck ? Seriously (or maybe not) if you are tankering fuel, you probably have alot more fuel than you need, so first off don't panic. Now that you have slowed your heart rate, write in biiig block letters on the right hand side "We have alot of fuel". Do this at a way point every 20 mins or so. This will ensure that the data entry folks who review each and every flight plan, will understand why you are putting such a large number in the second blank colum from the right.

Gliderboy,

Be careful, it's a plot to turn you into a longhaul pilot:

WE HAVE A LOT OF FUEL
WE LOTS AND LOTS OF FUEL
We have a lot of fuel and such a long way to go
We don't have so much fuel anymore, and still a long way to go
That much fuel, and how much further?
Just enough fuel
Enough fuel... maybe
Wish we had more fuel
D#$%, HOW MUCH FURTHER? WISH WE HAD MORE FUEL!

Is there anyone who doesn't know who I am???? Personally I don't give a s#$t who uses whatever I say. As I said to a manager a while ago, I was happy before CX, I am happy enough in CX and I can assure you I will be happy after CX!
