A couple of Q's from someone still trying to figure out the system:

1) What's CASS?

2) Is there anyone out there dead-heading between YYZ and ORD/JFK as a CX DEFO? And if so, any tips for someone contemplating this as an option?

Since 9/11 nobody is allowed in the cockpit jumpseat from another airline unless they are in CASS. CASS is US carriers only so no free rides there.
Some airlines the Captains will give you a ride, but it is at their discretion (ask nicely as you can't reciprocate) and you will have to a seat available in the back because you can't ride in the cockpit.

Do you mean after doing a few years as DESO in HK? The way I see it, that's my other option for getting to YYZ, albeit not straight away.
