Recruitment Latest ?
Not much on the forum in the last couple of weeks. Hopefully this means everyone is working hard!. .. .Are any of the CX fleet still layed up? Is all recruitment on hold?. .. .I have no EAT for Final Interview and can't afford to put my life on hold, for more than a few more months. So I have to get another job soon and therefore leave to travel to 'Honkers' would be impossible during the summer.. .. .Was kind of hoping that things would move soon, so then one's fate successful, or not, would be decided. Infact I wouldn't mind siting in a holding pool waiting for a start date. Rather than in between phases.. .. .BTW I'm more than aware of the hiring ban imposed by the AOA. So could we leave this out of the replies. (This decision is of course only the problem of successful candidates, as and when they are offered a start date)

Would you take employment with a company, the result of which, WILL result in lifetime blacklisting from any other airline union.. .. .LIFETIME BLACKLISTING. .. .What do you do if you decide to leave Cathay at a later date for a Euro carrier?. .. .You won't be able to.. .. .Think VERY carefully.

Don't think anybody cares about the ban except the selfish folks, while accepting command vacancies created by the "49-ers to their advantage, expect other future employees to pay for it.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="mad.gif" /> typical union scare tactics...didn't seem to keep alpo from forgiving the co folks and taking them into the union when it suited them...

I really am getting sick and tired of people taking every opportunity to score points about the ban, blacklisting even when it is not directly related to the original post. This whole issue really has been beaten to death. Don't like the ban hey? Well perhaps you ought to try working in a country that financially destroys strikers. If you had the experience and really understood wat was happening, you wouldn't have any problem with it.
The ban will stay and if you decide to ignore it, your life in HK will be very lonely and uncomfortable.
There is no new recruitment until at least the end of the year according to very well informed sources.

Bans work - The next time you look for a job
The ban probably won't work on anyone who hasn't seen what happens to scabs/banned people until they look for their next job.
The kind of people who scab/banned seem to have personality traits that make it difficult to keep a job, at least from my experience. Many have been purged from UAL despite the Company's promise to protect them at all costs.
In the military we used to say "10 percent never get the word"; in this case the majority of scabs aren't deaf, they have some sort of social flaw.
At UAL, very very few Eastern Airlines Pilots who were on the scab list made it thru the hiring process, even though Eastern Pilots all were eminately qualified for employment.

I carry a master scab list with me at all times. If your name is on it, you won't be on my jumpseat. I know I am not alone in this practice.

Sometimes accidents happen to the best of pilots. In many parts of the world, pilots are thought guilty in a hull loss until proven innocent. I really would hate to be an ex-pat in a country with different language, legal systems, and cultures without IFALPA's resources to represent me legally.
I few years ago I was violate for an altitude bust during departure control switching freq's and sectors.
Was called in for a dance with the Chief Pilotand told my side of the story. He said to expect a guilty finding as 90 percent of all altitude bust happened between 10 and 11 thousand feet.
Went to the local Union man and got the same song and dance. That rather surprised me.
Went to ALPA National, they are the only people who pulled both sector tapes instead of the one where the allegeded bust occurred. Once the FAA listened to the Freq where the handoff occured and found that we rogered and read back the correct altitude, we were vindicated and it was chalked up to a Controller Operational Error.

Just out of interest what will the long term effects be of the recruitment ban on CX? I do not know that much on this subject but it seems that CX will be getting very short of pilots before long and if the ban goes on for another year, presuming that the industry is almost back on it's feet by then, what are CX going to do for pilots? Does anyone think that the 1000 hour requirment for SO will be reduced?

The "ban" will not make a difference...those that want to work for CX will do so regardless of the "silent" treatment or not.
CX management should "terminate" any pilot who operates contrary to the laid down procedures...and this includes giving a hard time to new recruits. Those pilots who are already in CX have a duty and responsibility to the company.....NOT to the HKAOA.
When was the last time a current CX pilot had the paycheck signed by the ....union?

I am not sure how true this is, but I was told by a very senior (local Chinese) manager in Cathay that one of the reasons they have very few local flight crew is that CX requires all pilots to have near-perfect vision without the aid of any corrective devices. (I understand this is not the case for many airlines).
For some reason which is not fully understood, Hong Kong Chinese have one of the highest rates of short-sightedness in the world, so in fact few can pass the test once into their 20s/30s.

I see that miserable old prick is back trying to stir the racist pot again.
You ask when the last time the AOA signed the cheque, when you get unfairly diss-missed as is the case for our 49er's.
Im sure no replacement workers will be mis-treated on the flight deck but 411A it will be a lonely life at outports for these fella's not to mention socially in HK.
