I was out in HKG last week during the typhoon. We were delayed by a day or so due to crosswinds and finally flew back to LHR in the middle of a very busy period.Unfortuneately the Aussie guy on the "Clearance Delivery" frequency didn't help by being extremely rude and somewhat out of his depth.
Our first call up to say we were ready got the reply :"Don't you start Speedbird".
An hour later when we had another go at talking to this ill-mannered incompetent we got the reply "don't even think about it".Some of the blunt replies to other aircraft were even worse.
Shortly afterwards a local ATCO took over and the difference was instant.Aircraft and crews were given information and assistance and the flow rate must have doubled.
SO if you were that Aussie ATCO on duty on the clearance freq on saturday 07 jul between 1600-1800,then can I suggest one thing :Go back to OZ.(The Tower at Alice Springs would be a good place for your standard). At least let's try and keep second-rate atco's in one place !!

Minesagrolsch, what a shame you needed to resort to the xenophobic arguement, far better to say this particular guy on Delivery was out of order and leave it at that....now all you have achieved is to show all concerned what a fool you really are!
A professional pilot would not have posted such crap.

Can't play cricket, can't play rugby, not even close at tennis, and definitely short in the manners department.
Did you realise that next to you the ATCO sounds good.
How do you know he was an Aussie, see his passport? Maybe a Kiwi or maybe educated in Aus as a lot of the Asians are, and by the way the Alice Springs ATCO's are excellent.
Its only around 14hrs to your side of the world it would be nice if you stayed there.

MinesaGrolsch,
Thanks for that insight into the shortcomings of Hong Kong ATC. I am a bit surprised that none of the other 54 (yes 54) aircraft on frequency at the time (also after start clearances) haven't seen fit to complain about the abysmal standard.
Judging by your accent you were the guy who bitched severly about having to wait for a parking spot when you arrived.
Perhaps if some of you guys weren't so chicken and were prepared to take off with 50+ kts x-wind then the problems would never have occurred.

Your posting would have some credibility if you had taken the matter up with the individual concerned rather than suggset someone on duty between the hours stated was incompetent.
As you seem to have pinpointed an individual would it have shown some testicular fortitude if you had put your real name to the posting rather than hide behind your company and MinesaGrolsch?

Lap, Kok, Chek... I think it has all been said; the guy was obviously a w@nker (good old Aussie term). Did you see the cricket score from the first test of the Ashes series - maybe that was why he was so grumpy... or it could have been the fact that the pretend englishman (pretty sure he is a Canadian but I could be wrong) didn't make the Wimbledon final and an Aussie did... Oh well he'll get over it - or maybe he won't. Wallabies by 22 this weekend!!!
