Gentlemen:

We have all seen our own literature, video's from the focus nights, heard and/or seen Marty Levitt. We are going into territory that is not familiar to most pilots at our airline.

We have to stop posting stuff here for the time being! Like, Saddam Hussain got his intelligence from CNN during the Gulf War, CX is getting their some of their intelligence from this forum, even if it is common knowledge to us all. If we express our opinions, fears, advantages, etc, CX will know how to play their hand. Like NR was extracting information from us (the Pilot Group) during the AEP lunches, he is getting a print out of this forum every morning (from our CX editor) which he and KB start to formulate a strategy that they think will work.

It is similar to the information they extracted from us in the survey they gave out in 1992. It was to supposedly help out a Swedish student with his post graduate work. They used it against us the very next year (after the consultants they hired to analyze the data to formulate a plan to begin Union busting).

Gentlemen, it is great to know what our fellow members are feeling, but to make it work, we need to keep it to ourselves or just our members for the next little while. We had to show where it is going to count, in your actions. If we keep CX guessing on what we are feeling, doing, or planning, it is a GREAT advantage for us.
Gentlemen, think about what you are writing or even better, don't write at all. Sometimes it is just as good, if not better, to JUST SIT A LISTEN!

There is a time to lead, there is a time to follow, and there is a time to get out of the way. Wise people know when to do all three.

Let's be smart about this Gentlemen.

Regards bengi 25

very erudite but also containing some very good ideas > I have to agree with you, I've stopped posting on any issues other than idle chit chat for some time. As you say no news is bad news for management Unless of course we start a campaign of dissinformation

Whatever you do, do not telegraph your intentions as the AFAP did in Australia in '89.

May be too late already. Should never participate in surveys especially by employers or politicians as the results will always be used against you.

Praise the Lord and keep your ammunition dry.

Wise words Benji25 but let's not forget our own capability to use this as a disinformation weapon; we've always got the real email for the real messages. Preparing the opposition's reaction for a scenario that doesn't exist wastes a lot of their valuable resources and time..........

From an outsider who was gouged during the 1989 Australian punch-up, and has experienced a couple of management try ons in other companies since......

For whatever reason, managements worldwide appear to be simultaneously taking on pilots' unions. As Hawke said in our dispute, "Go out this time and it's WAR boys!" - and he was correct with the analogy. In your stoush there will be no Marquis of Queensberry rules, they (CX management) will fight hard, heavy, and dirty...and the "war chest" is bottomless - completely non-accountable money, because it's "for the long term survival of the company". There probably won't be anything new, management just aren't that clever, or imaginative.

You can bet your phones will be tapped, and there'll be the odd slimey "plant" who'll feed info. back in the hope that he can gain something for himself.

Be imaginative, and keep your groin protected!

But in the end, if there is no negotiated settlement between company and union, CX will probably go the same way as Ansett - a slow, lingering, withering death.
