Everytime an aircraft leaves with 2 S/O's, it takes away an upgrade from one or more of the senior S/O's. If it happens too often, then the company will roster it to become the norm, therefore taking less upgrades to J/FO. Longer time in the back seat with substandard conditions. As a group the S/O's should stand up and be heard. Remember your vote is just as important. If you don't like the way it is going, tell somebody.
I agree the Captains should be the ones standing up and putting up a fight. They are the ones signing for the ship and will not be properly rested at the other end in case something goes wrong. Also the Relief F/O is going to be twice as bad because he/she has gotten the worst rest and still has to be at the controls for the landing. It seems the Captains just call crew control, tell them he is not happy and continues to go flying.
If you feel you will not get a proper rest at the other end you should refuse to fly with 2 S/O's. It is your duty and responsibility to the traveling public to be properly rested for the landing. Even if it is legal, it is not necessarily safe.

The experience level of the S/O's is not the problem; it is trying to get two pilots properly rested after a 16 hour 30 min duty time.
We all have the responsibility to be pro-active to better our conditions.
Remember how healthy are we going to be doing this for 20-30 years

Ladies and Gentlemen, we all have a part to play in our current and upcoming negotiations. Lets all do the right thing by helping out our negotiation committee and continuing our contract compliance to the nth degree.

Well said. Don't ever forget that split duties were introduced in the early 90's purely as an exceptional event. Then management told us that split duties and intergrated patterns would free up G-Days.

Well, the fact's are that split duties are the norm, intergrated patterns only mean less crew and no extra G's.

The issue of 2 S/O's on an ULH flight will be just like the cases above. It WILL become the norm if WE let it. The "thin end of the wedge" seem's pretty fat right now!

Don't fly sick or stressed.

2 S/O's for 888/889 for the 5th-8th pattern.

Any others ?
