Bournemouth Airport - Rats and ship?

Just more than a little curious. How many ATCOs are there now at Bournemouth Airport given the recent discplacement of 3 staff members?

Two are playing in the snow in Canada, and one has just tendered a resignation. I have also heard a rumour a senior manager has just been signed off long term sick.

Three?

I hear that 6 ATCOs have resigned since last summer! Now you say Jeff Berryman has gone long term sick?

That leaves (much counting of fingers and whirring of cogs)..... only 7 qualified full time Radar controllers!

How can they keep a roster going 24hrs?

whats an AAVA! not being in NATS and assuming that their T&Cs are in line with others in the group then there will be no overtime or similar-you might get a day off in lieu

I believe they're down to 12 ATCO's and are facing the possibility of closing at the weekends and operating monday to friday, 9 til 5 until sufficient replacement controllers can be found and trained!
Could strike action be imminent?!?!?

Could this be the opportunity for NATS to come riding like a knight in shining armour and make everything good?

Good "point". Overtime keeps Swanwick operational [barely]. Supervisors like to keep a little validation going to take advantage of the "dosh", can't leave all the money for the troops can they? We even have previously office-bound controllers doing a bit.....in fact it is abso-bl??dy-lutely incredible where they have all come from since the AAVA's [overtime] appeared. There are so many ATCO 1's doing overtime that they actually out-number the ATCO 2's [the normal operational controller grade at Swanwick]. Methinks that the union should be pushing for a re-grade to ATCO 1 for all!////////Anyway the best of luck to all at EGHH, I think you're about to learn what market forces are; strike while the iron is hot.

Bournemouth - 5 controllers have left since oct' last year- two are 'in the snow'. 13 remain , 9 are radar qualified. This includes MATS.
