SFC Opportunity In The West

Surely this is unheard of. I have never seen an opportunity like this before. At first glance very tempting. I guess it depends on the return of service they want:

CADET FLYING INSTRUCTOR - SPONSORSHIP
Singapore Flying College (SFC) is offering a scheme where suitable candidates may obtain sponsorship for CPL training as further training as Qualified Flight Instructors under CASA regulations.
The cost of training will be covered by a loan extended to the candidate that will be expunged over a period of service to SFC.
Please forward your resume with a passport photo, flying history (if any) and a copy of your relevant qualification(s) with your application.

Please note that only successful candidates will be notified.

If I am not mistaken this is cost free entry into the industry.

Incredible.....

This is not new. SIA has been sponsoring their cadet training ever since they started their ops.

They sponsor their cadet all the way to ATPL (frozen) and in return the cadets have to serve out a bond for 7 years in the company.

7 Years is a long time to be bonded to one company considering the many opportunities available in Aviation at the moment. Nothing in life is free there is always a catch!

Self Sponsored CPL/IR followed by distance learning ATPL

Hi all,

Would like to seek opinions in doing my own CPL/IR with Singapore Flying College and then subsequently pursue a distance learning ATPL.

However, the Singapore Flying College Website, http://www.sfcpl.com/ doesn't seem to provide much information to the self sponsored course. Important details such as fees are not indicated.

Found the below website
http://www.londonmet.ac.uk/depts/bss.../prof/atpl.cfm

I was just wondering if the JAA ATPL is valid in Asia countries. I am a Singaporean and is considering settling down in Hong Kong, to look for jobs with Hong Kong Airlines.

Advices pls?

Who said is seven years? It will probably be done on a case by case basis. It's a good idea to call the organiser and get more details about the conditions.

This has been going for years in Singapore

SFC has traditionally been sponsoring the training of their own cadets instrcutors from scratch with a return of service of five years after the training has been completed. After they have done their five years they all crossover into the airline. These instructors complete their service in Seleta Singapore.

The program advertised on AFAP would probably similar to the above.

Hi Jimmyreeves, do you happen to know if the training will be done in Perth or Singapore?

What are the criterias for selection? Looks like a good opportunity there.

Jerry,

Honestly I don't know much about the selection criteria. The Training will be done in Australia. There are currently three cadet instructors all locals in Seleta finishing ATPLs and they will do the CPL/IR and instrcutor rating in Perth.

Jerry,

I think you need a 457 visa if you want to work in SFC, Jandakot.

You may try getting SFC to sponsor you, but my bet is that they will only hire you for their cadet screening in Seletar.

SFC FI in Jandakot or Singapore?

Hi everyone,

Anyone knows? Is the candidate going to be instructing in Singapore or in Jandakot? Instructing in the 2 places will be very different I suppose!

SFC was recruiting for cadet instructors sometime back in Singapore and I think these will be instructing in Singapore. The 2 advertisement were very different and of course advertised in different places.

Can a singaporean apply for the opening in australia?

Cheers!

Cruiser,

The ad clearly states it is an Australian Based job.

Being a Singaporean, you can't work in Australia unless you have the required visa or you are a PR.

Cheers

Do you know if you get an interview with Singapore Airlines if you:re an Instructor in Jandakot being an Aussie?

Heard after a number years service you get a shot? Also Instructors can take advantage of discounted fares in SIA! cool

flyboy,

I know 2 aussie ex-FI in SIA mainline now.

Can't help you on the "discounted fares", don't know what kind of staff benefits Jandakot FIs get.

Cheers
