ATPL to LAPL
Hi All,
I have a question if I may. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2016 and subsequently lost my class one medial which of course suspends the privileges of my ATPL.
I am just going through the process of enquiring with an AME, whether or not I could satisfy the criteria of of obtaining a LAPL so I can fly light aircraft again. If I am granted the medical, does anyone know what the process would be with the CAA? Would I simply have to apply for a LAPL, or when the medical is issued, would I just do a skill test (My SEP has expired) and have it signed off on the ratings page and my ATPL becomes a LAPL?
If anyone could enlighten my I would be very grateful.
Thank you very much.

Very simple, renew your SEP and fly with the LAPL medical no need to do anything else.
Your ATPL contains the privileges of a CPL a PPL and a LAPL so the medical decides what privileges you can exercise. Simply maintain the SEP in the normal way.
