ATPL to LAPL
Hi All,
I have a question if I may. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2016 and subsequently lost my class one medial which of course suspends the privileges of my ATPL. I am just going through the process of enquiring with an AME, whether or not I could satisfy the criteria of of obtaining a LAPL so I can fly light aircraft again. If I am granted the medical, does anyone know what the process would be with the CAA? Would I simply have to apply for a LAPL, or when the medical is issued, would I just do a skill test (My SEP has expired) and have it signed off on the ratings page and my ATPL becomes a LAPL? If anyone could enlighten my I would be very grateful. Thank you very much. |
Very simple, renew your SEP and fly with the LAPL medical no need to do anything else.
Your ATPL contains the privileges of a CPL a PPL and a LAPL so the medical decides what privileges you can exercise. Simply maintain the SEP in the normal way. |
Whopity,
Thanks very much that is very helpful. |
