Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

To Pay - or Not to Pay?

CAA Scheme of Charges says the same fee for both Certification and Re-Certification
of an FI(A) Certificate.

Having just Revalidated my FI(A), with no change to the Instructional Privileges, and
with FI(A) signed off in my Ratings Page.

Do I have to send a payment to the CAA along with the paperwork?

Note: I don't believe this was required 3 years ago at last Revalidation

No action by the CAA no payment. The FIE has carried out the action for which you have paid and the paper to the CAA is simply notification. The scheme of charges is very poorly written.

Thanks Whopity
"No action by the CAA no payment." is exactly what I thought but, Heck!, those forms aren't obvious
