Base & Procedural Turns
Hello all,
Looking for a reference if someone can help.
Situation:
Outbound from a beacon to perform a turn to join an ILS.
I was always taught to be established +/-5 degrees on the radial/bearing before descending in accordance with the procedure. This is test tolerances for an IR renewal in my country of employment. But am trying to find a PANS OPS reference that +/-5 is a requirement to descend.
Many thanks in advance!

Thanks for the replies.
Small Cog: That paragraph only mentions established on the inbound, after a turn.
However as you mention, descending outbound from a beacon, what are the usual limits? We know that in EASA land test tolerances are +/-5 for tracking. But I am looking for a solid reference that we should always track +/-5 on any given day, struggling to find a PANS-OPS ref.
Some suggestions I have had is: so long as you are on the procedural turn side of the approach you can be as sloppy as you like and; so long as you dont stray over the beacon into another MSA sector. I heard alot of "protected area" rubbish but those folks dont know what the size or diamentions should even be. Nobody can tell me where their suggestions are written.
Appreciate all the help!
Thanks!
