Read Standards Document 19 (A) available here;

Standards Document 19 (A): Notes for the Guidance of Applicants taking the PPL Skill Test (Aeroplanes) | Publications | CAA

Yourt instructor should take you though most of it in the run-up to the skill test.

Yes

Go through the standards document.

If there's anything you think you aren't sure of having done and would like to try again *spiral descent recoveries* then do by all means ask to do that as part of the final lesson or what not.

The best advice for your test:

Don't go out the previous night.
DO Prepare for bed and sleep at the right time the day before the test.
Don't be late for the test.

If you don't feel well when you are there and by this I mean your feel ill etc then don't do the test. *I don't mean fear of taking the test though, that's normal*

Remember your instructor would never put you through if you weren't read. Have faith in yourself and do the things you have been taught.
Finally, don't assume you have failed if your test doesn't go flawlessly. No one's test will. Just get to the finish line.

Good luck!

1. Remember that your Examiner once had to do a PPL Skill Test! He/she will want you to pass.
2. Make sure all your paperwork (logbook, medical etc) is all up to date. Get hold of the PPL application form and go through the checklist of items you'll need to send off. It will give a very good impression if you show that you've got everything well-prepared.
3. Be yourself.
4. There is nothing in the Skill Test which you won't have done before; impress the examiner with your ability and take it as an opportunity to show how good you are!
5. DON'T BE LATE!!
6. If something doesn't quite go according to plan, don't fret. It's rare that everything goes 100%.
7. Make sure that you've brushed up your PFLs, circuits and landings and stall recoveries recently. They are life savers.
8. Go to the lavatory before you walk to the aeroplane - a Skill Test can take over 2:30, which is probably longer than your normal flights....
9. Try to enjoy it - imagine you're taking a friend flying to show him/her what PPL flying is all about.
10. GOOD LUCK!!!

Also dress appropriately. Neat casual and do NOT wear sandles or flip flops. Look the part, feel the part, act the part. Hope that last bit make sense.

Finally, GOOD SKILLS since luck should not be part of the equation.

Also:
- don't be afraid to ask examiner a question, if you don't understand something: show him you're eager to learn (even on a skill test), he'll respect you for that
- examiner isn't a monster, he's just a regular pilot, who was once in your position as well so he knows how you feel and what to expect from you
- before the exam, try to practice engine failure imitations, crosswind landings and, sometimes disregarded: go-arounds
- fly safe; the PPL skill test isn't so much about precise flying, perfect communication or soft landings - it's about safety.
- review PPL theory before the exam, should examiner wanted to check your theoretical knowledge, you'll be prepared
- show that you are in command and able to acting as PIC, since this is what you'll be able to do when your license is issued after skill test
- be confident in yourself: if your FI let you solo traffic pattern and cross country and signed you off for PPL skill test, even he thinks you're up to it
- and once again: as long as you fly SAFE, you should pass the exam

Go with the attitude that you will just show the examiner how good you are.
Stay cool.
Oh, and write FREDAH and HASSLE on your wrist 'cos your bound to forget them - well I did!

Skills Test Passed

Every Body Thanks a Lot for Guidance and Help. Finally there,Time has come,Yesterday went for my Test,Booked for 1600 Hours, but the Plane C-152 I was use to fly on had some nose wheel problem and was taken to hangar.Examiner said we can still go if i can wait for half an hour for another plane to arrive,i said i can hours to make this happen today, strong cross wind but no turbulence.

First leg was 41 miles, right on time and place,i have seen examiner very much impressed by my Communication with Southend Radar.during the phase also asked him how is he feeling, thinking as a caption i was looking after my passenger

So was the diversion ,VOR and General Handel ling, PFL absolutely perfect. Both we happy with that.

Been asked to take back to airfield, cause that was a different area than my normal tanning area,i should say first time in there,i quickly drawn a line from to the airfield, another line on compass rose as we do for diversion, and known my heading which was right, seen airfield from far, there was no traffic straight away joined base leg and been told to go flap less, OK no problem it was good approach but just before the end i went bit unhappy with it,throttle full and went around, told examiner i was not happy it so shall take you down again.second time was good, then examiner turned me to dead side on 1200 for a glide approach, planned a long base leg and short final, briefed him i am aiming 1/3 of the runway, when i turned on final used 30 degree flaps, told examiner i am using full flaps when i am dead sure i ,ll make it.went as per planned.and that was it ,he pulled me out of run way,and i said to him thanks first officer :-)

Once shut down, appraised in may ways, very confident, good communication, hard work in cockpit, enthusiastic, good use of rudder etc.i have been asked to tell
the best part of my flying ,i wasn,t sure i thought probably the first leg, straight and level, right on time and place etc.examiner said no,
It was your go around.very good and on time decision, and you are pass.

Even a big Journey starts from a very small step,

Looking Forward to ATPL.................................

Once again Thanks you very much and God Bless you
