Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

IR renewal

Quickie chaps , lasors as unreadable as ever
If your mep expires end of jan and ir expires end of april. if you do the full renewal at end of jan , me/ir ,is it only then valid until jan next year or do you get the three months grace and your ir will be valid until april next year?

If you do the test together they become co-terminus.

The alternative is, if you are not using the MEP, you could let the MEP lapse and renew both in April.
IR date will be unchanged (ie 12 months from previous expiry), MEP date will be valid 12 months from date of test.
Only difference is you will be renewing the MEP instead of revalidating. But no difference to the test as far as I know.
But only consider this if you are not planning to fly a twin between now and then.
