How and what is needed to become a FI? 120 TT, PPL, NR and twin engine ratings - what is the cheepest and quickest way to become an FI? How much does it cost?

Pre-requisite flight and theoretical
requirements
Before commencing a Flight Instructors Course (FIC)
an applicant must satisfy the course pre-entry
requirements as per JAR-FCL 1.335: -

a) Hold either a valid UK CAA or JAR-FCL
aeroplane pilots licence, which includes a valid
Single Engine Piston (Land) Class or single pilot,
Single Engine Type Rating.

b) Meet the knowledge requirements for the grant of
a JAR-FCL Commercial Pilot Licence
(Aeroplanes) as per AMC FCL 1.470(b).

c) Have completed at least 200 hours of flight time
on aeroplanes of which a:
i) PPL(A) holder shall have at least 150 hours as
PIC or
ii) to hold at least a CPL(A).

d) PPL/CPL/ATPL(A) holder shall have completed:
i) At least 30 hours on single engine piston
powered aeroplanes of which at least 5 hours
shall be in the six months preceding the
pre-entry flight test.
ii) At least 10 hours instrument flight instruction
in aeroplanes of which not more than 5 hours
may be instrument ground time in a FNPT or
a flight simulator.
iii) At least 20 hours of cross-country flight as PIC
of aeroplanes, including a cross-country flight
of at least 540km (300 nm) in the course of
which full-stop landings at two aerodromes
different from the aerodromes of departure
shall be made.
iv) Pass a specific pre-entry flight test with a FI
qualified as per JAR-FCL 1.330(f) based upon
the proficiency check as per JAR-FCL
1.240(b), within the six months preceding
the start of the course. *
*The pre-entry flight test will assess the ability of the
applicant to undertake the course.

Flight Instructor flight and theoretical
training requirements

An applicant for the FI(A) rating shall have completed
an approved course of both flight and theoretical
knowledge instruction training at an approved FTO.
The course is intended to train the applicant to give
instruction on single engine aeroplanes up to PPL(A)
standard. This must include the particular requirements
specified below and each of these requirements must
be met in full.

a) The flight instruction shall comprise at least 30
hours of flight training of which:
i) 25 hours must be dual instruction;
ii) 5 hours may be as mutual flying with another
FI applicant.

b) 125 hours of theoretical knowledge instruction, to
include:
i) 40 hours tuition;
ii) 78 hours teaching practise;
iii) 7 hours progress tests.

Wtf mate, all i want is for someone, preferably an FI, to say the price and where my mate needes to go from 120h TT to become a FI.

Er... That's exactly what you got!

Other than the price, which as your mate will know, will vary from school to school.

Ok, so, on top of his ppl he would need to, increase his hours from 120 TT to 200h TT and do the CPL exams? And then do the FI rating? If this is correct, how much approx could it come to?

To go from 120 hours to volunteer FI.
80 hours hour build at 40 pounds an hour in the US, 3200
CPL thoery exams, 1200 for the distance learning course, 9 exams at 55 an exam, 495, also include accomodation while doing ground school / exams at the exam center.

FI course in the UK 5 to 6 thousand pounds.

Account in a few other charges such as test fees, travel, approximate total cost in the region of 12 thousand.

Instead of 80 hours of hour building he/she could build 30 additional hours and do a 25 hour CPL course (5000 if completed in minimum time) , this would increase the cost, but at least they could then get paid to instruct.

For the FI course you may want to check prices in Spain, you can get it done half the cost compared with UK (all in english, ground school and instruction).
