IS IT ILLEGAL
The recent UK law change now requires helicopter instructors to hold a professional licence before they may conduct remunerated instruction.It is almost 10 years since the same legislation was introduced in the fixed wing world and the sporning of the BCPL(R). Instructors were told that they could not be remunerated without a professional licence and were forced to exchange their lifetime PPL for the limited life (now 5 years) BCPL(R).
It is strange that existing helicopter instructor don't need such a licence to continue remunerated instruction. They can continue on their lifetime PPL. Microlight and SLMG instructors can be remunerated whilst operating on a PPL.
Can someone please tell me how such inequality can exist in UK law under our equalitarian labour government?
Is it not time than one of our representitive bodies took this issue to the European Court of Straight Bananas who would then rule it to be illegal.
