Talking A Truely Big Con-Job

On a "camp" at RAF Topcliffe during basic training I flew three dual instrument trips in one day.
It was in July and the sun blazed down on the Vale Of York.
My Instructor was a good catholic from County Tipparary "down south" and I protestant from Belfast.
To cut the long story short at the end of nearly three hours of "Get the hoight Roight" and the thumping of ones bonedome to make me fly the aircraft as per the rules I was a complete sweaty mess when the boss in the right hand seat of the JP Mk.3 told me to make the next approach a final landing.
On having brought the aircraft to a fast taxi speed I felt an arm on my shoulder an heard the laughing voice of Tipp-Tom-Con say
"Happy 12th of July you protestant bastard."
Well, we were lucky to get the thing back to dispersal and get the parking brake on.
I know I could not see for the tears of laughter.

Nice one Victor,

It's such a shame there aren't more cross border anecdotes from your neck of the woods. Humorous ones that is.
