Fueling question....!

A friend and I (who are not Pilots!) would be really interested to know, how much extra fuel would a 747 use, if it had too carry 401 passengers rather than 400, on a journey from London to New York.
Im sure somebody out there has an equation to work this out, and I know we are really sad wondering about such trivia but its really nagging!!

Stanley Stewarts' book, 'Flying the Big Jets' states that a 747-400 carrying an extra sachet of sugar would, over a year, use an extra gallon of fuel......so you can work it out! However, this is something he has heard from a friend etc etc etc, so it is up to you to believe it or not.

Hi there, I fly a 747-200 from Fiji to LA a fair bit, and on that 10 hour sector the flight plan tells us that for every tonne extra of fuel we add over the flight planned fuel, the fuel burn (total over ~10 hours) will be (typically) ~450kgs. So, for the 'average' 80kgs person that's about 40kgs of fuel extra for 10 hours of flight.
