What is this thing called STRESS!!!!!!
I hear alot about it, hear people suffer from it - but what is this thing called stress? http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/eek.gif
Call out Crews from standby - too stressed to come to work  Must be catching as more & more ground staff are suffering from STRESS...........!!!!!! Could be they are in too close a proximity to aircrew ;) So if I don't have it, am I causing it :) :) :) [This message has been edited by lalapanzi (edited 27 July 2000).] |
Must be all those icons thats doing it.
|
WACO
do I take it that in your opinion icons cause stress or that I am receiving stress from them but don't realise it? http://smilecwm.tripod.com/big/cry.gif |
They just remind me of those purple line followers we all know and love.
|
It says here in my dictionary,
STRESS - force; urgency; intense pressure; importance; that which bears most weight; violence; strain; emphasis; accent. Today's competition is to select from the list above those which don't apply to Ops/Crewing. :) |
Glad to hear i'm not the only one who needs a holiday.....boy, is this summer season just crap or what..??.
------------------ Hear all....see all....say n'owt ! |
LALA
I BELIEVE ALL THIS BICKERING CAUSES STRESS. |
Not bickering at-all.
According to my associates around the carriers, everyone is having a share of sh@T. Perhaps I'm just getting too old for this! |
waco
i beg to differ. you're bickering as well |
Hello Dubduck
Perhaps something positive from your good self my enlighten us all. |
I think I must have got things wrong, I don’t feel stress.
I feel anxiety wondering what Altimeter has put in my coffee. |
What are you all talking about?
Waco you're not old yet. The people you're dealing with are not worth getting stressed about, they only shout louder because they think they need to. They are only failed Ops blokes after all. Remember, if flying was difficullt ops blokes would do it. |
lol, dumbduck please oh please share your wisdom with us, promise no bickering :)
For those interested how's about this! ------------------ What is Stress? Stress is simply the body's non-specific response to any demand made on it. Stress is not by definition synonymous with nervous tension or anxiety. Stress provides the means to express talents and energies and pursue happiness; it can also cause exhaustion and illness, either physical or psychological; heart attacks and accidents. The important thing to remember about stress is that certain forms are normal and essential. --------------- The following are tips on how to maintain a healthier lifestyle and to prepare you to cope with the stress of everyday living. 1.Structure each day to include a minimum of 20 minutes of aerobic exercise. 2.Eat well balanced meals, more whole grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables. 3.Substitute fruits for desserts. 4.Avoid caffeine. The substance may aggravate anxiety, insomnia, nervousness and trembling. 5.Reduce refined sugars. Excess sugars cause frequent fluctuation in blood glucose levels, adding stress to the body's physiological functioning. 6.Reduce alcohol and drugs. These substances may add to headaches and swelling, decrease coping mechanisms and add to depression. 7.Get a least 7 hours of sleep nightly. 8.Spend time each day with at least one relaxation technique - imagery, daydreaming, prayer, yoga or meditation. 9.Take a warm bath or shower. 10.Go for a walk. 11.Get in touch! Hug someone, hold hands, or stroke a pet. Physical contact is a great way to relieve stress. ---------- So when the next pilot comes in the office, showing all the signs of being stressed out, before you tell him to get some sleep, go for a walk, hug them - then duck http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net2/smileyshot2.gif |
Thanks Watcher
Trouble is, when they call you "Dad" on shift you know your in trouble |
Waco don't I'm 23 years older than two of the assistance here.
tatenda shamwari love the grafix, but i've got to say your a sick puppy |
lala,
If only I could figure out all these icons, well there must be a thunderbolt somewhere......You must have a lot of time on your hands, hence no stress. |
Lowlife
and there I thought I can offered all an insight into the causes of stress, and you brand me a 'sick puppy' :) To me stress is what you make of it. I just prioritise, but at the same time make it feel as if each query/call etc etc is equally important. If the person interrupting your train of thought thinks that their problem is being dealt with, they go away contented. Where's the stress in that. So that aside, what superhero do you want to be today to deal with all those problems? http://smilecwm.tripod.com/megaman/mammoth.gif http://smilecwm.tripod.com/megaman/oct.gif http://smilecwm.tripod.com/megaman/PROTO-MAN.gif |
Stress.......sounds like you lot are the cause of it.!!!!.
Let's not turn this into another "slagging match". 007 ------------------ Hear all....see all....say n'owt ! |
JB007
I think you should direct your comment to one individual - dubduck - as that person seems to only have a one track mind = bickering. I have no desire to enter into, as you rightly put it, slagging match. I did feel that a bit of light hearted numour may go towards relieving all those who feel that the job is too stressful!! I for one have never felt stress at work only out of work, or am I just kidding myself? Have a nice, stress free day, and look no icons, seems to upset the masses!! |
tatenda
bickering is something you are doing. i'm just annoyed that good threads degenerate into worthless slanging matches. even the regualator jb007 agrees with me. as for your hints on relieving stress, if you go through all that rigmoral do you ever get any work done ? |
dubduck
If you want to take issue with anything I post – fine with me, however, show I little etiquette or class and don’t shout at me. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net4/thefinger.gif |
LALA
SO, ARE YOU ALSO TATENSA SHAMWARI AS WELL? |
dubduck
again I would ask you not to shout at me! no I am not anything to do with tatenda shamwari, but would agree that to follow those tips, by the time you got through them you would be pretty stressed out. you seem to have this fixation about bickering? I didn't feel that this thread was heading in that direction, and was heeding the request of moderator JB007 :) |
lala
why do thing i'm shouting. please please everyone stop bickering. |
Hello Dubduck
"bicker" to bandy words - to move quickly and lighly - Collins dictionary Whats wrong with ops and crewing types bandying the odd word, comparing our stress levels and generally comparing the degrees of our "lowly status". |
dubduck
it is commonly considered in chatrooms & forums that the use of all capitals is to shout :) |
WACO
I CERTAINLY FEEL STRESS BUT DON'T AT ALL FEEL LOWLY. DO YOU? |
LALA
WELL HOW DO YOU GET THE CAPS LOCK OFF THEN ? |
Below is a copy of your e-mail that you recently sent because you were upset that the last thread you joined was closed by the moderator.
[quote] From: christopher mcgivern <[email protected]> Subject: as i said Date: July 27, 2000 6:12:33 AM EDT To: [email protected] CC: lalapansy may i remind you of my initial posting of 19jul0955 'i'm furious at all this bickering'. look what it degenerated into , so much so the topic was closed ____________________________________________________________ ____________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com [/unquote] now forgive me if I find this rather strange but as recently as the 27th July you seemed to know where the caps lock is located, but not today http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net3/finger.gif I can only assume that you are not far enough up the food chain to be capable of long-term memory. Try the key that has Caps Lock written on it - seems a good place to start. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/ut1/redeemerwhore.gif [This message has been edited by lalapanzi (edited 01 August 2000).] |
LALA
CHILL OUT - I'M ONLY TEASING. AND FOR THOSE WHO NOW KNOW ME, I'M WELL UP THE FOOD CHAIN THANK-YOU! |
Dubduck,
If I knew you were Chris McGivern i'd have banned you a long time ago !!!! How's things on Mosside ? 007 ------------------ Hear all....see all....say n'owt ! |
Boys Boys....
Whats wrong with a little bickering here and there, we all need to let off steam every now and then, especially all Ops and Crewing Staff. Mosside ? AIH I presume.... Lalapanzi - your a pratt !!!! OpsBoy ------------------ The One and Only OpsBoy !!!! |
this is my first time. i wasn't strest until i read all this but some of these contributions are rubbish.
|
Opschild,
Long time no hear.... ------------------ Hear all....see all....say n'owt ! |
JB007
I am sat here next to Altimeter, but he refuses to contribute. Maybe you can entice him out into the open |
Stress. Its what us pilots try real hard to give to you. We thought you liked it. :)
We have a number of ways of increasing this magic thing called stress. Below are some examples. 1. Don't be available on the mobile when we said we would and we are on standby 2. When you do get through to us moan like hell and spend the next 10 minutes arguing about how we can get out of the duty 3. When we have to accept the duty find 27 reasons why we a) need another day off b) are out of hours or c) can't do the next 5 duties 4. Divert to another airport (for any reason you like) 5. Break the aircraft enough to cause a delay 6. Break the aircraft enough to cause a diversion 7. Break the aircraft enough to get a nice little nightstop followed by a day or two somewhere hot (our favourite, and something we try really hard for, but only works a couple of times a year we find, or you lot get suspicious). 8. Calling you to tell you we are not going to that crap diversion that is listed on our plog, but to another one, further away, where you have no personnel to deal with the punters (and oh dear, I can't quite hear you now on the HF, we'll talk to you on the ground) 9. Do a runner before said punters realise they are stranded for 3 days with no-one that speaks English And YOU complain! :) :) :) |
Dubduck - my apologies I omitted to remove your name before posting http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/frown.gif distracted
Opsman sent me an e-mail believing me to be Macgiver the best wind-up artist around. Well just had to prove him wrong :) Opsboy - all that time at tango land has stressed you out!! http://smilecwm.tripod.com/dvv/nuke24.gif I think it's called gotcha - just need Noel to present the awards http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net/ani_smiles.gif [This message has been edited by lalapanzi (edited 01 August 2000).] |
LALA,
THE COVER BLOWER, is that in the spirit of things....Slagging (slanging) matches we can and all take part in from time to time JB but advise mr LALA to take the icons back to the stone from which he crawlled under. |
This thread has gone on about absolutely nothing!
I'm just adding my bit. Seems like there is a few of you who need to get a grip. Have a nice day all, and don't forget......embarassing the flightdeck crew is part of the job! :) |
should never have given them shoes.
