Gatwick Handlers/Airlines

I have just applied for a Dispatch job for a "very busy and prominent Ground Handler at Gatwick Airport" (from the job description) and am wondering which company this is likely to be for? Furthermore, could somebody provide a list of the airlines that each company handles at LGW?

Finally, if I were successful in getting the position, would my existing AAA and GSAT training (from March 2011) from Bournemouth be relevant, or would I have to re-train these compulsory elements at LGW?

Cheers

As far as I remember, if you still have your GSAT certificate it should be transferable. If it's the same handling agent as Bournemouth they might transfer over your sharing file but from what I've seen they'd probably rather give you 'refresher' training to cover their backsides incase anything happened.

I hope your GSAT Certificate is Valid!

Personally, I don't think I could handle sitting through the hitting the target video again....

Either Menzies or Swissport. Which agency did you apply through?

Premier Work Support. Having looked through their site, some of their job ads are for last Winter so I feel I may have applied for a position that doesn't exist any more. It is a temporary position for this Summer but I'd imagine they would have their staffing requirements in place by now?

Dispatcher Gatwick

I work for Swissport at Gatwick. Unfortunately Premier did the recruitment for Dispatchers in March and training began in April.

This is the first time in years that Swissport have hired external candidates as usually new dispatcher positions are given to internal candidates. It might be related to Swissport winning the thomas cook contract recently. I think though it might be more common from now to hire externally before the summer season as Swissport love using agency staff rather than employing people directly themselves. Check again next March/April.

Menzies seem hire dispatchers on a yearly basis although again its usually around March. Try "the recruitment place" as their Menzies employment agency.
