Travel-rates for travel workers

Being an employee in the travel industry, I was told once that I could get travel-employee rates on holidays, flights, hotels, etc, and wondered how I go about getting reduced prices? The only real proof I have is my security pass for the airport I work at...

Also, how do I know which companies offer travel-industry rates?
