FAA Class1 and Class2 Airspace

Hello,
can somebody provide me with some information regarding class1 and class2 airspace in the US, and how long these ground based nav facilities will be in use before a replacement takes place? I read some information that at the beginning of 2010 a new airspace structure will be introduced.
Any information would be appreciated.
