Serviceair:GlobeGround - Ramp Agent Question
I have heard others talking about the roles of being ramp agent but I am a little sketchy as to how in-depth the job would be?
*Would I have to drive the push-back truck?
*Would I have to empty the aircraft toilets?
*Would I have to lug bags about?
Please help me out as I don't mind the job if its involves paper work and following the procedure for turning an aircraft around etc... What I don't want to do is empty the aircrafts wastage system
Regards
Dave

Airway Handling are part of Servisair and provide ramp services at most airports although Servisair also has its own ramp agents. Basically it involves lugging baggage, positioning equipment such as steps, high loaders, GPU's etc and at some airports, driving the push back tug.
ICS do the toilets and water at most airports for Servisair.

Dispatcher role
Dave123, if you don't mind filling in paper work and following the procedure for turnaround then you're probably better suited as a Dispatcher or Despatcher or however you spell it! Is one English and the other American? I never could get understand why there were two ways of spelling it when I did the job!

it is my belief that different stations have different responsibilities for ramp agents...or dispatchers...as we like to be called. i prefer the english way of spelling dispatch dont you monkeyboy?

*Would I have to drive the push-back truck? Possibly
*Would I have to empty the aircraft toilets? Possibly
*Would I have to lug bags about? without a doubt.
Add to that all sorts of things that are described as being "part of the job" and you know what a ramp agent does.
Then again, if you get too good at that, and actually show some initiative, or even worse, have some relevant professional qualifications, do NOT let on, as that's likely to get you fired!
Then again, there may be some SA/ GG stations out there that are professional, and do the job correctly. Then there are others.
