refer to manufacturers specifications ? Not in 43-13, accepted procedures and practices either, How about Part 65 in preventive maintenance, Gee how about EAD's SB's hmmm. did he want you to bring him 100' of flight line or some relative bearing grease ? :O

Hitcher, thanks for your contribution, it's turned this thread into thread into great source of entertainment. If you're for real though, I can assure you that I have never had any maintenance occurrences in flight due the fact that the over paid engineers missed something on preflight :E, however there have been a couple of situations occur due to my own negligence.

What I also find highly ammusing is thinking about what must be going through your mind when you are at work and observing the Engineers and Pilots going about there business. You must really enjoy your shifts utilising your licence securing aircraft.......Oh !!!!.....your not one of those security guards that carry a gun are you........

:= That constitutes incorrect use of tools old chap...and think about the recalibration problems thereafter.....you really should know better.....now, a jacking handle...:ok: on the other hand would serve exactly the same purpose.... and would only need some Kim-wipe after use....;):D

On a serious note, I would concur with forget and his more than feasible escalation of matters c/o the individual concerned. OK, he is entertaining in his own demented way, but I also feel he's not a wind-up merchant..his posts ( various ) have a consistency to their content if you read them carefully and thus I get a very strong sense of an impending serious problem in the making.

I see Hitcher is looking for CFM56/V2500 engine course notes in the spotter section, maybe one of you kind lot can help him out?

I wonder if he is planning on checking/resetting filter bypass indicators or maybe pop the master MCD out for a quick look on one of his walkarounds as a result of his new found knowledge.

I want some advice from The Hitcher on a change of career as I feel as an LAE I'm not getting enough satisfaction, maybe you could give me some tips on how to make it in the security business? Where I really struggle is minding my own business and telling other people how to do their jobs. Oh and feeling up strangers b@lls.

There's a difference between being vigilant and second guessing people when you're not qualified to do so. Don't try to back-track and make a sensible comment after all your previous put-downs about both engineers and pilots as your card is already marked:=.

If you can fly a sim you can fly the real thing, skill /knowledge is the same.
Now that's a statement from someone who's not playing with a full deck. Given that you've also been asking for engine manuals, and various other operating info, if you were on the other side of the Atlantic you'd be on a limited diet by now. Actually, I'm a little surprised you haven't been invited to a chat here!

The Hitcher, as a security "expert", would you agree with the following statements?

1) A person, who has absolutely no need be in possession of them, is attempting to obtain detailed technical publications pertaining to engines fitted to various types of commercial airliners. This same person holds an airside pass and apparently has the opportunity to access aircraft unsupervised. This individual has demonstrated that they hold a grudge against 2 groups of people who are directly responsible for the safe operation of these aircraft.

This is perfectly acceptable, and is in no way a cause for concern

2) An engineer who holds an airside pass may have full and unfettered access to any aircraft he or she must perform work on. They may carry all sorts of sharp, pointy tools as required to carry out their duties. But a yoghurt may not be taken through a security checkpoint by the same engineer in case it is a threat to aviation security.

This is perfectly logical.

Over to you The Hitcher. I wait with bated breath for the definitive opinion of a "senior licensed aviation security officer". ( Whatever that is....)

What is an accumulator and how does it work?
What is a brake bleed valve and how does it work?
What does ADD stand for and how does this system work?

accumulator - charged with nitrogen has a diaphram to seperate the air from the hydraulic fluid on the other side, it is used to dampen shock value of hydraulic surge and for aircraft brake systems allow for a reserve in the loss of hyd power.

Brake bleed valve- also refered to as a shraderdoes the same as in your car, the brake system is a one way hyd system, air can become trapped at the brake reducing performance, the bleed valve allows for venting the air/hyd fluid mix until solid hyd fluid is evident. this valve is secure and normally lockwired closed

add - an EU thing, not sure on the exact acronym but basically NEF not essential for flight. The MEL minimum equipment list is there to list the potential safety of flight items usually electronic that an aircraft can operate without for a prescribed period of time, it does not cover non safety of flight items, thus the add program.
