why do you people feel that you have some right to determine how or what madmax should say?
Its his view on the world, take or leave it. The middle east is easy to sum up without all the rose tinted spectacle nonsense. Decide first why you are going. If its for money...........forget it If you are running away from something...........possibly If you want to widen you experience of different cultures..........fantastic Whether it works for you or not, only you can tell. But cut all this don't post this way post that pathetic nonsense. |
yet you are doing exactly the same!
|
spanners you are an apparently intelligent person so why a stupid post.
where in that post am I telling someone how to post. You post a comment, take it or leave it. It is that simple. |
But cut all this don't post this way post that pathetic nonsense. You post a comment, take it or leave it. It is that simple. I have opinions on DXB and EK, but I don't think they will add to the discussion so I haven't posted them, everyone has their opinions on places, some will be good some will not, trouble is you will hear more from the unhappy side than the other, that's the way it is. Anyway that's me done, got to go and watch a football match. :ok: |
well there is only one match on tonight if you are in the UK:D:D:D
You in sunny Manchester by any chance asks this Chelsea fan? |
you can't say anything. You've been in the business 2 minutes and have a mouth wider than the Mersey tunnel. Get some time in. Learn the profession not just the job and then maybe, just maybe you may grow a few more brain cells, complete your modules and realise what a stupid post yours was. Quite a pompous attitude to take if you ask me. |

as much as it hurts, you deserved it. Congratulations.
NOW GO AND WIN IT. |
hope so as I already have a ticket for the final, better stop a bit off topic!:ok:

got a call "before shortlisting"
I have a similar problem...I got this call from emirates...asked me random stuff about employment...preffered sallary? which area do u want to work? ure current visa status in U.A.E??(i live here).....and all such random stuff..in the end she said something like "we need to know all this before short-listing someone"
I have applied to quite a few different roles on their careers page..and uptill now...there is no change in there....just one application "under review"..which have been the case since looong...any average time I shud wait for them to get a call for my interview??? |
It's not random, it has a purpose. If they need people in the hangars and that's where your preference is then you'll get a tick, can you actually reside in Dubai without them having to worry about you getting visa's etc, then another tick in the box. How much do you expect to earn, 100000 whatevers, they have a limit of 80000 then no tick in the box. That way they don't waste yours or their time setting up an interview.

Found this interesting, sums it up pretty well, in my opinion. Dubai on Empty

constructive advice - anybody?
Well, I’ve been silent for a long time... When I started this post I assumed that I’ll be talking to fellow engineers and technicians who can:
- share their experience with Emirates recruitment process - give advice on the interview process. I was hoping I’ll get some constructive advice similar to many pilots posts. Even though their posts are also polluted with useless comments, you can still find very specific advice pointing you to some very valuable sources about how to prepare for the interview and share work related experience. So far, I received very little help. If you are not comfortable sharing in the open, you can always send me a private message and we’ll go from there. It looks like some folks are coming to this post just to entertain themselves. To some of you - cut down on unrelated noise and have some respect to your fellow colleagues. |
CAP77
With all due to respect to CAP77. what those guys who are giving negative stuff about emirates sounds to you as useless.but in truth my friend. They are spot on. Its just from canada you cant understand the gravity of the nonsense those people who are already there in emirates going thru everyday. As a matter of fact the whole middleeast if you are not yes man. Then the witch hunt begins with you.its worse than a third world system. With control freak bosses treat you like a child bully.top it all even some are big time naggers worse than a woman.Imagine a guy who have been banned in more than 4 or 5 companies as engineer can get promoted and supervise you.what kinda control freak he have to be
|
If it wags it's tail like a dog, barks like a dog, it probably is a DOG - I'd be listening to these people before jumping!:ok:
|
At the end of the day put it into context , dont disagree with the negatives but go and have the interview and look at the place . Its down to your personal situation , there isnt a lot of work about at the moment anywhere so its worth looking at . Anyone anywhere at the moment after a few years seems to have plenty of negative points but on the other hand there are plenty of expats in DXB who have done a lot of years . Quite a few people put up with the work because their families enjoy the place , you wont get rich , but it is a reasonably secure job working on a generally new fleet.

Absolutely! I pay attention to all the negativity on this forum, as well as other places. However, it makes me think: there must be reasons why many still stay there.
I came to this forum to narrow down my discussion about EK with my follow colegues, who've been through the selection process and would be willing to share some constructive advice or insight, like yours and some others. But some folks make very generic and useless comments telling me what to do! I greatly appreciate everything guys say here (life, work, medical, education, etc) if it is to the point. In my case, there is a lot of work for me here at home. So, I have to take a lot of things into consideration. My wife would like to meet with other wives while I am busy there with the interview. Would other women be willing to spare an hour of their time with her to share their experience? And again, this post was ment to be about the selection process. How long would be Dubai interview? What's it like? How can I prepare for it? Thank you all for taking time to reply to my post. |
