Angry BMI to sack all Engineers at CDG

British Midland have announced that all it's Engineering staff at CDG are no longer required.

Their contacts will expire in June. BMI have not offered any relocation.

A sad day for a great bunch of guys.

Good luck for the future.

Thanks Guys for all your help in the past.

I sincerely hope (expect) you'll not be out if work. Sad to say bmi will never get an Investor in People award.

Cool

Well then, first Amsterdam now Paris - where next??? BHD i have heard.

I too once worked for BM and it weas the guys that you worked with that made the job, had a great time with the guys in CDG on overseas duty and it is a sad day to see you go.

Lots of work out there and BM always gave a good training so you will be snapped up.

As usual the bean counters have called the shots again even though engineering always made the money and kept some of the other departments afloat. What will happen when engineering are no longer there???

The company are in the poo and i've heard even the Cathay contract at LHR may well go and the hangar be flogged. The sooner Lufthansa by BMI the better, that way hopefully the engineers will be built up again.

And as for Schofield - the rottweiler - when he goes in a few months that will be a sigh of relief for all - can there be any worse??

Best of luck for all you guys and i'm sure we will meet again under happier terms

Can you advise of the percentage of 'crew transits' carried out in Europe at the moment? It appears to be increasing. Is this due to JAR-OPS 1 or was it occuring prior under the autonomous NAAs?
I've had a look at JAR-OPS 1.875 and 1.890 which contradict each other, the first stating that the preflight does not have to be carried out by a 145 Org, the next states that the preflight is a Maintenance Responsibility! It would appear from afar that the Operators select the commercially expedient option and the NAA rubber stamps it.
We're fighting the same issue here in Australia at the moment with Virgin Blue pushing the envelope.

Best wishes to all engineers with the sad state of affairs in aviation worldwide.

Cheers
