Have,nt heard of anybody in the aviation contracting game, but the revenue have had a pasting in recent cases brought to the tax commisioners ,they are not the almighty government dept that they would have you think, best tax officers have gone over to private consultancy recently and its shows in their performance of late.

First piece of advise is join the professional contractors group who have done a great job so far mainly in IT sector in re buffing the IR in their chase after people. You can get contract advise on the significant points that your contract should focus on which should put it outside the IR35 arena . There are a few basics also that you can do for your self such as how you pay yourself through your company etc nothing which a reasonable accountant should be able to advise on. A PAYE tax investigation insurance is something to get a 100 quid or so which will pay for costs involved in going to the tax commisioners for a hearing
