EASA to CAA B1.1 (the other way around)

Hi all,

Tried searching through the last few pages and googling for days on end but haven't found anything similar to what I'm asking...

I'm originally from the UK and have been living and working in Germany for the last 11 years. I'm planning on moving back to the UK at the end of the year (please keep opinions on the intelligence of that idea to yourselves, it's not all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows abroad either), and I'll have a newly minted EASA B1.1 complete with type rating.

Converting from EASA to CAA looks like a case of basically starting my career all over again from scratch. I've come to terms with the fact I have to do all the modules again, but my question is regarding my logbook of experience.

In EASA land our basic experience logbooks are simply a day-to-day logbook of what tasks we've completed on the aircraft. I.e. each entry would look like: 22.05.2025 ATA27 Flight control cable tensions checked and adjusted, Type of task: adjustment, Work order, and a stamp/signature of the certifying staff. UK logbooks seem far more complicated. Would my EASA land logbook suffice? How on earth do I take 1500+ entries in my logbook and made them satisfactory to the CAA?

My basic experience requirement is reduced to three years over here because I went to a vocational school through an apprenticeship (a mix of vocational school and practical experience in a Part-145 environment), thus have received technical training. Would this technical training be recognised in the UK?

I'm actually in the really fortunate position of having a job offer from a company in the UK already, based off the EASA licence. I'm just trying to get a head start on the CAA side of things before I get back, as my type rating expires in July 2026 and I would obviously like to have that in my future CAA licence, too.

Getting information from the CAA is like getting blood from a stone (predictably). You email, hear nothing, call, get told to email again, get a semi-automated reply just linking you to the web pages on the CAA site you've already read through ten times before.

Appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Have you tried calling licensing.. BTW you can I believe hold both licences now.

Yes I've tried calling and only got through to an operator, who told me to send my email again. I did, and got a reply with the same two links you just posted, which I've already spent time reading through. Unfortunately neither of those links gives me any answers.

The problem with the CAA licensing is they lost the Licenced Engineers that used to man licensing and now tend to employ people that lack a lot of the knowledge.
