Question Recommendation by company for Part 66 AML application

Hi

I have a query regarding the application for a part 66 Aircraft Maintenance License and was hoping someone on here has been in a similar situation or can shed some knowledge on the matter.

I have recently completed all the required theory examinations and experience requirements for a Part 66 B2 AML and am about to apply to the UK CAA for my basic license without type. On the application form under section 7 it requires a recommendation by your company (such as the quality or training manager).

The problem with this is that I am currently unemployed as I mostly undertake short term contract work and I will not be looking for work until later in the year as I had planned to do a type course after receiving my basic license. Has anyone been in a similar situation when applying for their license or could anyone offer some advice?

I have been in contact with the CAA Engineering Dept about this but they say it will take up to 30 days to answer the query!

Any help/advice would be much apprecaited

Cheers

ZESA

If you can (?) go back to your previous employer and ask the QAM there to sign it. He should do this if you gained your experience in their employment...

Staff on the desk use to sign it but you will have to take it in to gatwick. Will take a little longer to process due to a full review and validation of your logbook submitted. Give them a call

Thanks for the replies

Unfortunately the quality manager at my last employer was not overly keen on signing his name next to a contractors application form, I have all my experience throughout my log book signed for, all I require is the recommendation on the application form.

I am expecting this will be the case too. When telephoned they asked me to email the Engineering Dept directly which has been done.

Thanks allot, it has been a long slug these few years but finally the goal is in sight! Just got to pay 320 pounds to go through them
