yes, you can't do it. It's no longer JAA but EASA, and there is no cross recognition either way, we can't convert to FAA without examination and it's the same the other way.

Exactly correct Spanners .
The FAA A&P is a glorified Cat A , it is not recognised by EASA / JAA / BCAR
and never has been . There are very good FAA engineers but the A&P is just the very first step on the certification ladder .
